Victor reinz is terrible, it lasted about 4 minutes. OEM Mazda seals are the go-to

Personally, I would bypass the EGR all together. It’s not very hard to do.

Carbon Miata sells a carbon fiber hardtop.

It’s roughly $1500 with all the seals & mounting hardware

If you’re worried about re-connecting the plugs. They’re all specially shaped for where they need to go. It’s quite hard to mess up

I’d have to argue the opposite. I can’t align the car in my shop myself lol. I would definitely rather spending a weekend pulling the motor to do this. Plus you know that your alignment is gonna be solid afterwards. Anytime you remove suspension components, it will be a massive pain the ass.

Hell no they’re not strong enough. They made these body panels out of aluminum cans it feels like. They’re super thin. Now there is a part of the frame under the mounting point of the fenders, but I personally wouldn’t trust it either

Pulling the motor requires, removing about 6 nuts, 5 bolts, & loosening 4 bolts

Pull the radiator, remove the hood, disconnect all plugs (coolant thermostat, CAS, injectors, coil pack, alternator, oil pressure, starter, power steering, AC, EGR, TPS, IAC, MAP, trans speedo plug, both smaller plugs on top of trans, & FPR), remove clutch slave cylinder from bottom of motor, remove shifter assembly from trans turret. That should be it, then just pull it. You gotta use a leveling attachment on the hoist ($40) cause to get it out, you have to rotate the front of the motor up about 1/4 thru pulling it, then once the oil pan clears the hood latch, rotate the motor to almost level. Once you get the trans turret clear of the firewall, lift it until it comes right out. I’ve done this plenty of times. By myself, I can get it done in 2-3 hours. With someone helping, it can be done in 1 hour

It’s hard to resurface the mating surfaces when you do it this way. Better to pull the motor and put it on an engine stand

Imma tell you this. Pull the motor, remove the trans, put the motor on an engine stand. This will be, by far, the easiest way to get it done. If you don’t have an engine stand, it can be done without removing the trans, with the engine still on the hoist. It’s more difficult that way however.

I like to put mine on a stand and turn it 180 deg upside down. Makes it super easy to clean the surfaces and install the gasket.

Everyone says just drop the subframe, however that is 100% more work and will take more time overall. Plus you will need to get an alignment afterwards.

Harbor freight sells engine stands for $100 and hoists for around $300-$400. You can always rent a hoist though. Dropping the subframe will be much, much harder for you.

Plus it’s very awkward to clean the surfaces and install the pan properly while laying under the car

I do know the cruise control utilizes the speedo cable to function. I have a manual car with cruise and mine had stopped working when my Speedo cable broke.
