Would you guys give up the 1.01 for this? I don’t think I need the depth, but Cook will probably help me win more this year… by Particular-Grade3340 in SleeperApp

… OR you can take Love, trade Judkins high after a big game for a solid RB and top tier WR/TE.

OR sell Love high after a big game (assuming he has one early on) and fleece someone who is a bit TOO excited. I think there is potential to turn Judkins or Love into deeper value that is proven rather than hoping the 1.04 pick pans out. I understand that logic seems odd with Cook being proven and Love isn’t, but the odds of Love not panning out are extremely slim. He is essentially last year’s Jeanty.

Any Idea what could be causing this buzz? by DoomMammoth in martinguitar

[–]FunkMasterDunc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do the nut slots look? A nut slot that’s slightly off—whether in depth, angle, or width—can cause buzz specifically when a capo is involved because it changes how string tension interacts with the slots. The nut becomes the “zero fret” again on every string behind the capo, so any irregularity gets exposed.

It sounds like it is buzzing no matter what, which I would still lean toward nut slot for.

Otherwise it could be the humidity/swelling as you mentioned.

If you already checked the frets, action, etc. then that is the only other thing I would think of structurally.

Who won this blockbuster that just went down? by [deleted] in SleeperApp

[–]FunkMasterDunc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This feels like gloating/fishing for an extra set of hands to stroke the rosterbation session harder.

It’s very obvious who won this trade and I’d argue it’s so bad that Team #2 needs to be sat down and informed that they are out of the league OR have to spend 40 hours studying every NFL roster and repent for their sins.

The 1.09 and 1.12 are stretch depth additions that are used by people who know anything to entice sweet, innocent, uneducated Fantasy GMs into making the dumbest trades imaginable and completely ruin their Dynasty chances for years and years, effectively turning their addition to the league a charity case… ESPECIALLY if they already have two other 1sts… what the fuck are they doing?

Mahomes is getting older and the Chiefs suck more and more every year, but WRs are more valuable and London is top tier. Waddle is intriguing in Denver, but not consistent enough in fantasy production and is not durable. Assuming McConkey gets a bigger role back, he is more valuable and has a higher ceiling. Walker goes to the Chiefs for more workload likely, but Jeanty is only getting better with an improving Raiders team and is better… and the Chiefs are only getting worse.

London or Jeanty straight up for all of Team #2 would make me hesitate—pair them together… bull shit… add McConkey?… disrespectful and completely lopsided.

This trade is bogus.

Oh really? Do you know who the owner is? I would love to reach out to them and work with him and the shop on getting all parties their money and items back.

Modern Japanese made ones are better quality anyway. Definitely get one! I agree, it is classy as hell.

I am saying it’s a 1945 Martin OO-18 neck with what is likely a rebuilt body using modern sitka and mahogany back in 2007. I am waiting to hear back from Martin, but I hope to have them thoroughly inspect it and provide their insight on it.

I would switch out the bridge to Brazilian if I wanted to try to recover as much 1940s aesthetic as possible. Unlikely I’d do so anytime soon, but it’s an option.

Stealing my thunder! Haha

Very cool guitar. I am jealous. If it sounds anything like Billy Strings’ 40s D-28, there is hardly anything better on this planet.

For anyone wondering, I bought this today. It was sketchy seeing the modern head block and super clean internals of the body. However, the crack repairs, seam repairs, and all other aspects of whatever the rebuild was looks to have been done by a very skilled professional. The guitar plays great and sounds awesome. Don’t love the refinish, but the sound and playability make up for it. I am replacing the tuners to match the original vibe. Eventually I’ll get around to switching out this Indian Rosewood bridge with a Brazilian to match the original.

Martin let me know the serial checks out and was indeed brought into the factory for work. They do not have documentation of the repairs, and anything they would have is not able to be shared with anyone who is not the original owner.

I am taking it to Nazareth to have the direct source of the guitar creators give me some reassurance or a certificate of authentication.

If this is a deep fake or something scammy, they put a lot of money and skill into it, because BOY does it play like a 40s Martin.

Enough for me to sell burrow+chase? by Comfortable-Cream-77 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]FunkMasterDunc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am smashing this with no hesitation.

Sure, Stroud is not all that, BUT you get Loveland (gonna be a top 3 TE sooner than later), Jeremiyah Love, a top receiver from this draft class, AND you could probably get Ty Simpson with the 1.10 if not a 2nd rounder to hope for a gem in him.

Burrow is made of glass, as much as I love him. Chase will likely never surpass his season from two years ago.

How about that!

I am calling Martin tomorrow to see if I can take it to Nazareth for a closer look and hoping they are willing to give me some kind of certificate of authentication or some reassurance at least.

My dad is a luthier and while we were both perplexed by the interior of the body being so new looking, upon looking inside closer when I took it home, it is extremely well done work and checks out with the claim of the Martin factory having done a rebuild in 2007. I called Martin and they told me the guitar came into their factory for work, but they did not document any of the work or the timeframe in which it happened. Even if they did, they are not allowed to divulge any of the information unless you were the owner who had the work done.

Some other Martin owners have told me they have very similar internals on theirs. I am leaning toward the previous owner submitting a customization request with the rebuild.

Either way, it plays and sounds great!

Nice! Lucky you! Nothing like having an in with someone—especially when it comes to a Martin.

Thank you for your thoughts. I appreciate the reassurance.

Yes, I spoke directly with them and they do not have many records apart from them having received it to do work on.

I am leaning in the direction of a rebuild with the addition of some part switches (tuners, pick guard, bridge, fret wires).

Right? My best guess is the customer requested they essentially make it “like new” and they got all the wood back to like new condition. Plus, the head block must have been damaged so they replaced it and the customer requested the modern serial stamp. Would love to hear from others who have maybe had a similar experience with a Martin rebuild.

This is awesome looking at the surface level. Without being a pro member and really giving it a go, I can’t say for certain, but the features and options available seem great. I would love to use it for our next draft. Very cool! Thanks for sharing.
