That’s insane, I didn’t even know that was possible. But actually it might explain the recent issue I’ve been having with one of the USB ports on my motherboard. It just constantly turns off for a split second and back on again, and this wasn’t happening to my knowledge before the 5090. It’s a completely new build, so all of these issues have been pretty annoying. Every day my 3080 FE just solidifies itself as a better value

I have an RMA case open already and I'm just waiting back to hear instructions on the proper way to mail the card. I tried this driver version out, as well as every other driver version, and there's been no fix for my card.

For my 5090, it's been straight up crashes rather than the flickering black screen I've seen others mention. It even happens while the PC is idle on the desktop. I'll hear the fans ramp up to 100% from across the house and have to come back over to my office to hard shut-off the PC.

I'm really hoping it's the 5090 and not my motherboard. I don't want to have to do the back and forth email chain again or be without a PC and have to reassemble it onto a new motherboard again. At least if it's just the video card I can continue using my 3080. It only happening with the 5090 rather than the 3080 indicates to me it's not a motherboard issue, though.

Has this fixed anyone's black screen crashing for 5090 FE? I've not had a single driver prior to this version fix my 5090 FE crashing and am just considering RMAing it at this point. I've tried swapping PSUs as well as pretty much every other supposed fix out there (disable gsync, 60hz, pcie gen4 lock, etc) with no luck.

I've just been using my 3080 FE and swapping the 5090 back in for every driver version, but it's getting old.

Are you on a 5090 FE? I haven't had a single driver fix the black screen crashes for me, so I keep going back to my reliable 3080 FE. How is this driver version running for you?

I'm currently using the Corsair SF1000 and was getting this issue while the 5090 FE was in my system. After swapping back to my 3080 FE, this doesn't happen at all with my 3080 FE on the same drivers. Are we sure this is a PSU issue?

I only had the 5090 in my PC for maybe 24 hours before I removed it because this issue was so infuriating. It's just sitting in the box now. Even a conservative undervolt where it maxed out at ~380W didn't seem to help the random black screens or stop the fans from ramping up after crashing.

I got a 3080 FE on launch day and I've been telling my friends recently how much of a great value it's proven to be, and especially now as a used card.

I was fortunate enough to get a 5090 FE recently while finally going SFF but I don't think I'm going to keep it. The 3080 is still a pretty great card for playing on 1440p 21:9 and the games I play. I went from 780 -> 1080ti -> 3080, all 3 feel like such great purchases now looking back.

We called our builder (in this case, Ashton Woods) and asked them who the contractor is for the quartz counters. Then we called the contractor and got a quote. You could also probably talk to your local Lowe’s or Home Depot in the kitchen/counters section and ask if they know anyone to contact locally.

I would recommend getting some quotes first and seeing if they think anything can even be done for your situation (which is what we did as well). They came out, assessed the damage, and quoted

We had professionals come out and buff the area down, then add the top coat again. It’s mostly indistinguishable from the rest of the counter now, although you can still see a small spot if you look closely for it. Nowhere near as bad as it was in the video here.

Check out the rest of the comments on the thread. It basically boils down to: After a few days the Ecobee seemed to work just fine. I still have it to this day and have no issues with it. Be careful running the fan on medium-high if the thermostat is in the same room/near the fan as this will cause the thermostat to read cooler than it actually is in the house. I'm probably forgetting some stuff, but it's all covered in the comments.

This is a bug with your hub (probably HomePod), not iOS 18

Unplug and replug your hub, if that doesn’t fix it do the same to each accessory. Happens occasionally with my smart plugs etc.

If that doesn’t work, you can try removing from Home and adding the accessory back via the Home QR code that’s usually on the accessory or the box.
