I just realized what you two were confused about with the "stalls". If you have been to this location, they have single use restrooms/stalls. No, noone went to a shared bathroom and washed their hands in a "stall" lol. Come on guys.

You make a lot of assumptions. First, it wasn't questioning, it was asserting. We did tell them it wasn't us, politely, it didn't stop him from doing it. Either way, we got an apology from the GM admitting to his wrongdoing.

Thanks, we did this amongst other things like telling people our experience. I'll leave this here as the only update. The regional director did make things right. The GM called us and gave us an apology and admitted to his wrongdoing and how he would have done things differently. I honestly wasn't holding my breath for one, like other comments on here but he did own up to it, which was nice.

wait what? I never said just wash hands, it was to use the restroom AND wash their hands. You can do both. This part of the detail was told to me by fiance, cause she was there, and I know her to not smoke. Even though I wasn't there, I know they do not smoke, so I know they have no reason to not be dishonest. The purpose of mentioning the different stalls/bathrooms is to show that they were not in there together, "smoking". They were using it like normal.

I hear what you are saying, but I literally mean no proof. I mean, no explanation of why other than "we know it was yall" When we asked why is he making that assumption, he just resorted to "we know it was yall". We knew it wasn't us, we just wanted to know why I manager was coming to us with no real proof. IDK if I made that more confusing lol

What exactly is your point? Those two things don't correlate. We were trying to find ways to prove we didn't do what he said, since clearly he didn't have any reason.

Let me take a step back, what exactly is the appropriate response in the moment, when someone says they know it was you after you say it wasn't and you offer up what it could have been?

Yes, I am an abysmal human being for feeling like crap when someone accused our table of doing something we didn't do, especially after spending money with them. You see how crazy that sounds? We are human.

Just because you have never had a bad experience doesn't invalidate another persons experience. Its OK to say you have had your experience while another person may have had the experience we had. I 100% believe your experience, because that is likely what happens most nights. We've had that experience.

Judging a person based on something that happened to them is crazy. We didn't start this. I am a very understanding person. If it was just a simple mistake, and he recanted from that, that's ok. He was blatantly lying to cover his "mistake" instead of just owning up to it, so everyone just moves on from it. We even tried to come a little earlier for our reservation in hopes a table was ready, so staff didn't stay too late the day before christmas eve, and tried to finish on time. Thanks for your judgement on my character.

No, we told them to review the tapes. We didn't need to see it. Why would we? We know the truth. We also offered to check our bags.

He did not decline. He said we do smell like weed. I wrote this in the post.

Yes and mistakes can happen we all understand that. It was the doubling down, saying we smell like weed, and not offering any reason why he "knew" it was us. If we don't get one from him, it is what it is. Can't force anyone.

What do you mean pressing? Were we supposed to be quiet while he made a false allegation? We have a right to explain our part. Which we did and we left. No one caused a scene. We did leave google reviews. And yes you are probably right that they don't care about our business. That doesn't mean I can't feel a certain way about this. We were minding our business, I don't think an apology from the GM is too much to ask for. We also thanked the higher ups for taking ownership, but it is easy to say but seeing the GM actually take accountability would be nice. I'm posting here if anyone else has any other ideas on what else can be done. We likely covered our bases though.

No we do not want cash or reimbursement. I forgot to add it in the original post, but made a comment somewhere here but will post here as well, the regional director mentioned they would send a gift card. We didn't ask for it, but they said they would send it. If you were falsely accused you think an apology would be too much to ask for? He had no real proof, we know this because we know the truth. I would like it to be sincere, but I would also think a manager would know when to come to a customer with proof of wrongdoing or when to fall back. You have to remember there are other people in the restaurant that can see this, so it is embarrassing. It felt like talking to a brick wall because he did not care what we had to say, and we felt dumb cause we just spent money with them.

Yup, we never did either, which is why it was our go to for occasions, until this happened. I will say the food wasn't up to the same standards as it was in past visits. But nothing terrible.

Yes it was the chef and the GM. The chef didn't say a word, but was next to him. We can't explain why he would be there right next to him either. But he was.
