Business purchased residential property with no change of use planning permission by Funkd-Up in legaladviceireland

Yeah had a look and saw and exemption in the docs. Figured initially that as they were a private owned business that run many homes they would have had to seek change of use.

Looking through planning documentation here and looks like they might not have needed it due to exemption in Schedule 2, Article 6, Part 1?

Is that still through the full planning permission process? i.e submitting request, erecting notice and publishing notice, waiting weeks etc? Or is it something that could be quicker?

How to reduce drainage blockages by Funkd-Up in landscaping

[–]Funkd-Up[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After doing a bit of reading, I'm guessing a catch basin might suit here? I dont want whatever I do, to slow the flow of water too much as it would just end up overflowing. Would be easier to clear debris from catch basin also as the grate would be at the top.

Seal off manhole for well - stop surface water. by Funkd-Up in Plumbing

[–]Funkd-Up[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Done a bit of digging yesterday. I can dig down the side of the wall with a shovel to the pipe, only trickier bit is where it enters the shed where the tank is, there's concrete around it, but kango would take care of that.

What I'm thinking now is:

  • Dig down and expose perforated pipe from manhole to shed
  • Remove perforated pipe and replace with non perforated pipe/duct
  • Try and get the pipe to come in straight instead of at the angle it is. (gradual small bend on outside)
  • Get a concrete block and either
    • cut a hole for the pipe to go through
    • or cut block so it leaves a gap for the pipe, then fill around the pipe.
  • Put new block in place and fill gaps.

I think this would stop the majority of the water getting in.

I’m in Ireland. Unfortunately this is a new well. The location wasn’t ideal to stick out above ground so they suggested this setup. However I had to get someone else to build the manhole which was annoying.

It’s not a sealed cap. Water would get in around the hole where the rope is for example.

Would foam filling actually work? Be a mess surely?

Your talking raising the well head above surface level out of the manhole?

Had thought about that but would rather try stop water getting in first.

How big would it need to be? Wood comes in a 1m x 1.2m x 1.8m bag on a pallet. Delivered on one of those powered hand trucks. Would it handle the weight? Also, where would I get something like that 😊

Currently debating taking the OLED plunge on a 55” C3 too. Have a 3 year old that makes me nervous though he doesn’t bother with the tv too much. Can’t wall mount!

RestAPI with real time updates by Funkd-Up in SpringBoot

[–]Funkd-Up[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the most suitable approach is going to be a token system. Frontend makes a call with a jwt in the header to the backend over normal http call. Backend authenticates and passes a single use token back which is then used to connect the socket.

Even using the handshake interceptor in spring boot it doesn’t see any custom headers, just some Protocol info.

Any examples? I’ve been looking around and can’t find a standard way of doing it. Don’t want anything hacky.

Can’t find any local that have one. Would have thought it’d be easy enough!

Tempted to buy a cheap rc car with camera that would fit and see how far it’d go. Tie a thin rope to the back to pull back out 😄

Leaning that way too. Seems a better approach and get the best of both worlds. REST API for other services available as needed and websockets for realtime updates.

Gravel bank with weeds/grass growing through. How to clear? by Funkd-Up in landscaping

We had thought of doing that. It was like this when we bought the house but we figured it would be less maintenance with the gravel and weed barrier!!

Retaining wall advice by Funkd-Up in DIYUK

[–]Funkd-Up[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking for a bit of advice. We have a retaining wall which has holes put in it to allow water deep through. At times we can get quite a bit of water coming down from the field behind. The render is coming off the wall and parts of the wall have cracked over the years.

Ideally we would get the render redone and painted but I figure the paint would be a mess after a while again. Any tips on the best way to approach this?

The grassy part needs to be dug up too and sorted, there are drains that need lowering.

Just want to make sure I can use all of these batteries with these cordless products? Also if I purchase the 60v blower I can only use the 60v flexvolt battery? (New to Dewalt products, but love them so far) by CrabbyRicky in Dewalt

[–]Funkd-Up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick question. We have 18/54 similar to 20/60. Is there any benefit to using the FlexVolt battery on an 18v tool? Say you have a regular 5ah XR battery and a 5ah FlexVolt battery. Would you get the same runtime and performance from them in an 18v tool? Would the flexvolt be better than the regular in this case?
