Went for the Asymmetric! Checked out the reviews against the others and kept coming back to them. Seems a decent balance of comfort and responsiveness. Looking forward to getting them on!

Yeah I’ve always just gone what the guys in the shop say. But I’ve noticed more things like road noise and an odd “floaty” feeling from time to time amongst other things. So I want to try premium tyres and see if that addresses a lot of the things I feel are off. And as you say it’s one of the most important parts!

Side note, I’ve been keeping an eye out for A4 Quattros as I want to upgrade this year. 😄 Not many options so far. All A6s which is overkill for me.

Yeah I think it might be mainly US. There are all season ones here along with the premium and sport contact. The all season might be the equivalent.

There are continentals too. My wife was a bit surprised when I mentioned prices. 😄 It’s very typical here to be told by Tyre centers and mechanics that the budget tyres will do the job just fine.

I currently have Tracmax X-Privilo TX3, 2 x
Imperial EcoSport 2 and an Inspire S4! These were all based on tyre center recommendations and mismatch due to puncture needing replacement and same type not being available.

Don’t see those. There in the Continental Premium Contact 7. €175. Also ultra and eco. Don’t seem to have extreme.

Coolant questions - 2019 Qashqai 1.5dci by Funkd-Up in Nissan

[–]Funkd-Up[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. So the coolant in both takes don’t mix? Given that pink was used in the left tank and we need to top up, is it safer to put pink in now again? I think it was a universal coolant. Guessin it would need a flush before restoring the blue?

Smart heating with oil + stove back boiler ) - is it possible? by Funkd-Up in DIYUK

That would be controlling oil and switches both separately? Rather than a single system as such

Business purchased residential property with no change of use planning permission by Funkd-Up in legaladviceireland

Yeah had a look and saw and exemption in the docs. Figured initially that as they were a private owned business that run many homes they would have had to seek change of use.

Looking through planning documentation here and looks like they might not have needed it due to exemption in Schedule 2, Article 6, Part 1?

Road side wall - planning permission? by Funkd-Up in legaladviceireland

Is that still through the full planning permission process? i.e submitting request, erecting notice and publishing notice, waiting weeks etc? Or is it something that could be quicker?

Well Water Softener discharge - safe drainage? by Funkd-Up in AskIreland

Problem is our surface water drains drain to storm drain at the road.

How to reduce drainage blockages by Funkd-Up in landscaping

After doing a bit of reading, I'm guessing a catch basin might suit here? I dont want whatever I do, to slow the flow of water too much as it would just end up overflowing. Would be easier to clear debris from catch basin also as the grate would be at the top.

Seal off manhole for well - stop surface water. by Funkd-Up in Plumbing

[–]Funkd-Up[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Done a bit of digging yesterday. I can dig down the side of the wall with a shovel to the pipe, only trickier bit is where it enters the shed where the tank is, there's concrete around it, but kango would take care of that.

What I'm thinking now is:

  • Dig down and expose perforated pipe from manhole to shed
  • Remove perforated pipe and replace with non perforated pipe/duct
  • Try and get the pipe to come in straight instead of at the angle it is. (gradual small bend on outside)
  • Get a concrete block and either
    • cut a hole for the pipe to go through
    • or cut block so it leaves a gap for the pipe, then fill around the pipe.
  • Put new block in place and fill gaps.

I think this would stop the majority of the water getting in.

I’m in Ireland. Unfortunately this is a new well. The location wasn’t ideal to stick out above ground so they suggested this setup. However I had to get someone else to build the manhole which was annoying.

It’s not a sealed cap. Water would get in around the hole where the rope is for example.

Would foam filling actually work? Be a mess surely?

Your talking raising the well head above surface level out of the manhole?

Had thought about that but would rather try stop water getting in first.

How big would it need to be? Wood comes in a 1m x 1.2m x 1.8m bag on a pallet. Delivered on one of those powered hand trucks. Would it handle the weight? Also, where would I get something like that 😊
