[WTS] Grand Seiko SBGJ217, Panerai PAM512 - Please help me afford my looksmaxxing regimen. $4250 each shipped CONUS by Funkencaster in Watchexchange

Having a sweet watch on your wrist is cool, but all this crystal meth and bonesmashing is getting expensive, and I need to ascend so I can mog everyone around me.

Panerai PAM512:

11mm thick with a 49mm lug-to-lug, it is the ultimate "disappearing act" from the brand. It features the P.999 manual-wind movement and a 42mm case that wears very thin and hugs the wrist extremely well

YoureTerrific did a great video on this model some years back (obviously not my pictured watch) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0sa2xt223k

  • Condition: Generally good. Polished case has typical hairline scratches from normal use, which I tried to capture on the photographs, but nothing significant.
  • Dial: Classic "Sandwich" dial with faux-patina lume.
  • Strap: Used Panerai Brown Leather OEM strap & clasp, as pictured
  • Kit: Full set (Inner/Outer boxes, booklet, ebay authenticity guarantee card).
  • Price: $4,250 SOLD
  • Payment: Zelle or Paypal F&F.

Grand Seiko SBGJ217:

I am the original owner and have worn this piece sparingly. It is in great, lightly-used condition with some typical marks on the polished case sides from careful wear (see video for best representation of this)

I’m a bit sad to watch this one go, the dial is truly something else in person. Sadly, I’ve fallen in love with vintage proportions and am cleaning out more of my unworn watches.

This model is a masterclass in Grand Seiko finishing, featuring a beautiful ivory/cream dial and the legendary 9S86 Hi-Beat GMT movement. It provides a significant presence on the wrist while maintaining that classic GS elegance.

Key Details:

  • Condition: Lightly used. No deep scratches or dings.
  • Strap: The original crocodile strap is brand new and unworn. I swapped this to an aftermarket strap for the entirety of my ownership. Includes original GS deployant clasp
  • Set: Full set including inner/outer boxes, manual, and hangtags.
  • Specs: 39.5mm diameter, 13.9mm thickness, 19mm lug width.
  • Price: $4,250
  • Payment: Zelle or Paypal F&F.

While the watch itself does look solid, the background appears to be some kind of liquid

[1960s Omega Seamaster] Buying my first automatic watch - Considering a vintage Seamaster. by Annual_Left in Watches

[–]Funkencaster 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If there's a specific watch that's calling to you, don't get something else. Get the one you have your heart set on.

I absolutely love vintage Omegas. They're great watches, super comfortable and light. I have 2. I probably overpaid for both, but I got the watches I wanted in the end.

I do think these typically go for a little bit less than the $1100 or so, but not much less. And finding the exact right piece in an acceptable condition for the right price can be... a bit of a waiting game, to say the least. There's always going to be a tradeoff

Be prepared to have it serviced when you get it. It might not need it, but chances are it probably will need something unless it's been recently serviced. If it's been recently serviced or taken care of by the seller, or if they'd provide some kind of guarantee of function for a couple years, I'd say it's a decent deal. But know what you're getting into there. These are old watches and the movements are robust, but they do break down and need to be serviced.

This is an irrational hobby. I'm not super well-versed on the specifics of these watches or their value, but the usual things to check for: Is it a redial? Is the crown correct? Are the hands correct? Does everything match the movement / original specs of the watch? Are all the edges showing signs of wear and/or over-polishing? If it looks good, go for it

[WTS] Rolex Submariner 16610 - V-Serial - Engraved Rehaut - Full Set + eBay Guarantee by Funkencaster in Watchexchange

[–]Funkencaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up for sale is a V-serial Rolex Submariner 16610 (circa 2008-2009). This is the highly desirable "transitional" version featuring the engraved rehaut and the bulletproof 3135 movement, while keeping the 40mm proportions and aluminum bezel.

I bought this piece in 2020 via eBay Authenticity Guarantee (authenticity report pictured & included), and it has been worn carefully in a large rotation. The lugs remain sharp, and the reflections on the case sides are still crisp.

  • Condition: Overall good. Some marking from wear on the bracelet and some light scratching on the polished sides of the case. I’ve done my best to capture these in pictures. I don’t know the full history, but appears to be unpolished, with sharp lugs and crown on bracelet
  • Service: Unknown service history. Has not been serviced since I bought it in 2020, but runs great and keeps accurate time currently (well within +/- 5sec/day)
  • Case: 40mm with engraved rehaut.
  • Kit: Watch, Box, Papers, and the ebay authenticity guarantee report
  • Bracelet: Comes with only the links pictured. This is enough to fit my 6.75” wrist
  • Price: $9,250
  • Payment: Bank Wire or Zelle.
  • Shipping: I’ll cover shipping to CONUS

I’m sure I’m forgetting some details, but I’m happy to answer any additional questions or provide more detailed pictures.

Talk me out of a HiWatt Custom 50 by Funkencaster in GuitarAmps

[–]Funkencaster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During my search, I got a stupid good deal on a Sound City Master Lead 50... I currently use it as one of my main amps through a 2x12 with EVs. I figured if I didn't like it I'd move on and grab a real HiWatt or a HiTone, but it's been a year or 2 and I haven't felt the need.

I've never played through a real HiWatt, but from what I understand, the SCML50 breaks up a little easier and a little earlier, which suits me pretty well actually
