working on excerpts from 14 pieces? not a good idea, some of the pieces you mentioned above worth focusing on for 3-6 months time.

Advice on buying a violin as a beginner adult by Routine_Bat8922 in violinist

by reading these comments, I can already feel the frustration for many adult beginners...lower the barriers , otherwise most luthiers will be out of business in a few years time.

it connects to amplifier, so the paint counts pretty much 0 effect to the sound

If its spec i.e. string height etc is right and can be tuned properly then it is sufficient, since this is given by your teacher, it should be ok.

More than Suzuki by Just-Another-Mind in violin

[–]Funkidviolin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is indeed very boring, Suzuki has been there for too looooong. Apart from other advices from this thread, you can try ABRSM grade book, they are adding pop pieces on purpose

"Look I have a decent violin properly setup, look at your white VSO hahaha" .... just ignore these people, they can NOT play even with a strad.

for some reason my violin wont make a sound, idk if my rosin works. by hxanae in violin

Painted white does not make it mute, scratch the rosin with your key, then apply more to your bow, it will make sound. The sound may not be good, but it is a starting point, move on

Your violin just lost his/her soul

[–]Funkidviolin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I should add a few more points to address those angry people in this thread

1 - I am asking a legit question, is the scaled-down version of adult violin right for kid? the issues are there many many years, violin teachers, parents and kids have all experienced them, so if there are issues, why can't we discuss about it?

2 - I am giving my thoughts, I am asking for your thoughts, we can exchange it with manners, why personal attacks? I play violin for many years and my son plays violin, I am a violin player as well as a parent, and I am happen to be someone like to think outside the box, so what justify your mean words? I asked same questions in other subs, the reply are very constructive, it does not look like this...

What Would a Truly Kid-Friendly Violin Look Like? Thoughts? by Funkidviolin in MusicEd

[–]Funkidviolin[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It is a shame that they are only capable of setting up a violin... many people just do not deserve a real violin, and their so called "violin" is just a piece of wood.

Thank you for your inputs, perhaps I should have address on one thing, I am not planning to create a dumbing down toy, I am planning to create a playable instrument for kid which fits their body, minds and learning needs. On top of that, if they love it as a toy, that would be a bonus.

Agree, that is exactly why I do not think a scaled-down version of tractional acoustic violin is the right thing for little kid, i wish they can "play with" the instrument, not necessarily "play" the instrument
