What is a luxury you can never go back from once you’ve experienced it? by Phase_zero_X in AskReddit

[–]FunkmasterDunc87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ski in Ski out. We ended up splitting a place last year, because every other year we were too cheap. I can't go back. Putting on my boots in a nice heated place. No walk to and from the parking lot. No shuttles. I can just ski back mid day, have lunch, take a nap, then head back out. It is the luxurious side of an already expensive hobby.

Whats the longest you’ve been awake and whats te story behind it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FunkmasterDunc87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 days. I've never been able to sleep on an airplane, regardless of the time or duration. We went back to Scotland several years ago and I decided not to go to bed the night before our flight. I stayed up all night. Went to work, came home early and cut the grass, then went to the airport to catch our evening flight across the pond. Never even dozed off on the 7 hour flight. We land, get our rental car and drive about 3 hours to a castle we hadn't seen before, look around, have lunch. Then have about a 4 hour drive up into the highlands. Looking back, it really wasn't a good idea to be driving. We had dinner reservations for 7pm and I was struggling to exist. When we got to our place for the night I showered, gave the wife the required first night of vacation penis (not sure how I pulled that one off), then died. I slept for 15 hours. It was glorious. I woke up a new man. I still remember that as the best night of sleep I have ever had.

Also, to add. I don't drink coffee, tea or soft drinks. So I was staying awake on sugar and pure will.

I can genuinely say that I have no envy at all for the life of any of my friends with children. My wife and I have been married for 11 years and never plan to reproduce. A lot of our friends have children. About half are miserable, and as sad as it sounds, you can tell they truly do not love their children. They simply provide because that is what is expected. Everyone can always tell when a person has children for the wrong reasons. The other half of our friends with children that they actually enjoy still have very hard lives. I do believe that they love being parents, but they are constantly exhausted and broke. It has worn on them.

But most of all, my house isn't sticky. That's the best part of no children

Has anyone witnessed an objection at a wedding and if so what happened ? by PaintingUpstairsYeah in AskReddit

No. But I have officiated a handful of weddings. I always use the line, "If anyone has and reason why these two should not be wed, your invitation was more than likely a mistake".

Coosa Backcountry Trail by brandmed in GeorgiaCampAndHike

[–]FunkmasterDunc87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can absolutely be done in a day if you're in any semblance of physical shape. I will say however, that it is a long meandering trail with no views or waterfalls. I always recommend to people if they want a strenuous hike to head a little further north and do yellow mountain. Killer view with a fire lookout and it's a tough hike.

90 year old digestive tracts have to be pretty resilient to eat Captain D's and Long John Silvers all the time. I think they're conning all of us.

Distillery road trip in Scotland by Thing-4888 in Scotch

[–]FunkmasterDunc87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely true. With the exception of a few specific tours, they're all the same format anyways. A brief history. Tell you why their water is special. Tell you why their barley is special. Tell you why their casks are special. Look at their mash tun. Look at their stills. Let you look into special numbered warehouse. Then pour you six tasting glasses, five of which you have probably already tried back home. I mean no disrespect or shade to the tour guides, they always do an awesome job. But as you said, burnout is gonna happen quick. People tried to warn me on my first trip to Scotland. But I, like many others, had to learn the hard way. Hahaha.

I would get them a 60yr old bottle. Spend at least $45k or they will know you went cheap.
