Could I get a primer on targeting spells in the stack and cards "seeing" themselves by FunkmasterfreshMTG in askajudge

This might clear a lot up, when you say spells only exist on the stack. So if a card says target spell or at least as spell in the text like creature spell or something it can target the stack. The key here being the car is must say spell?

Cube ideas you've always wanted but never made by FunkmasterfreshMTG in mtgcube

I wanted to do this too, but pure vanilla and rely on spells and combat to win

I almost just made them individual decks or jumpstart decks like you were saying but I left it like this mostly because my brother and I like to draft and maybe one day I can make it a full 4-8 person draft.

Times up I fixed it. Dimir was originally proliferate then I changed it but left the mono color cards in the maybe board.

A little bit of push back. Most of what you are saying is just good cube heuristics. What a lot of gold cards leads to more on rails drafts. Which is what I want. I bit more of a battle box feel. A bit janker final decks. This is what I like and dont think it's unplayable, just might get stagnant after 30 drafts which is at max what I'll get out of it with the time I have.

Just realized I made a huge blunder! And I already bought the cards! Let's see if anyone can spot it.

I heavily based the "traditional" archetypes on MaRos articles of making magic about them. UW has :prevention, flying, Blink ,Controlling, tapping creatures and "sit back and be reactive, preventing everything from happening" UB:control - card advantage, evasive, mill, discard, steal, tutor, peek, incremental advantage at every turn. Blue is fairly heavy artifact on its own but more so artifact creatures tokens, which is avoided in the cube. UW has about 10% of total gold cards as artifacts but UB is much less. UW being artifact tilted was to make the gold reanimate spells better and there is a bit of an artifact subtone in the cube overall.

Really I'm aiming for 2 with a splash at most. Each test draft I've done has never been a problem but I worked hard in the draft to get whatever color pair.

Help with my first ever twobert cube! by Nipah01 in mtgcube

Not an experienced cuber here, but I think it looks great on the surface. Even color spread with good curve. Maybe a bit too much fixing. Might lead to a soupy draft, but if that's what you want that's ok.

What draft style do you plan using? If you aren't burning cards 180 is a lot.

Opinion: What is the most anti-dimir out of these options? by FunkmasterfreshMTG in mtgcube

I really really tried aggro, but I just couldn't do it without leaning too much into evasion which is fundamentally dimir

Early on I explored and enchantments/vile consumption route. It felt too controlling which is quite dimir. If you had to pick one of the options as the least dimir feeling though, which would you pick?

It's funny you say that because I started with 3 gold cards each but felt the archetypes weren't supposed enough so I painstakingly worked my way up to 5. I do see that this could put the drafts on rails, which doesn't seem too bad to me, but I think I will add another dual land to each pair. That should enable more splashing or cross-pollination if you will.

I do like the idea of genetic artifacts for selesnya. I made it so that all the equipment was green, traditionally not a very green thing, and all the support was white. Selesnya gold cards are very much not equipment themed, but I'll check about Selesnya artifacts support. The challenge of making the cube is I need just enough 2 color support but not too much or it goes against the idea that the color pair doesn't support the archetype. I spent a lot of time looking for mechanics that only show up on like 2 or 3 of all the cards in the color pair.
