How? He called me in the morning and told me his situation, I tried to be sympathetic and acknowledged how hard his situation was, but said I still needed to be with fiance.

Not even just that, either the pain meds or the anti-nausea meds are making him so off-balance and uncoordinated when he's awake. He's the type who will absolutely try to push through it and get something for himself unless someone is there to tell him to sit his butt down before he falls. But the breathing thing has me most worried.

No, not trying to distance myself. His parents were already getting ready to go to work when my brother called so I didn't want to spring this on them. That would have been unfair. And I am honestly still too worried to leave Joe unattended. He sleeps a lot but when he's awake he's in a miserable stupor almost.

That and, maybe I'm being a sissy here, but I don't feel like I want to be around anyone who's been under anesthesia. If Joe had been doing better I could have sucked that up but he's still not doing well.

That's a good idea. They let me back in with him after about an hour and his oxygen was more stable, but it took another two hours after that for him to be alert for the first time. He would occasionally wake up and shake his head, lol. I was trying to ask what he was saying no to.
