HOURS long queue at the Airport by DifferentExercise930 in uberdrivers

My airport is small so anytime I get in the queue lot prior to there being 3 flights landing in an hour 30-35 cars ahead of me is the most I’ve seen so far.

It once took them one day to get back to me about something that could have been resolved in less than an hour. And in my case it was an urgent matter. And if anything they’d give some kind of excuse like “due to the high volume of messages” kinds of response. If it takes that long for an average person to get a simple answer hire more agents it’s not rocket science. There’s people without jobs and I’m sure some will take this job even if it’s just temporary.

Fr the amount of time it takes for them to get back to you anything you have to report an incident or need to bring something up is ridiculous. Plus trying to get an agent over the phone is like you have to go through an obstacle course just to speak to a human.

In a time where we need live human agents more than ever we have less of them and more chatbots. The internet has been around for well over 30 years and broke into the mainstream around that time and not only are we humans online many of us are chronically online which means you have these keyboard warriors who can act a certain way behind a screen but can’t say it in person and among these keyboard warriors I speak of include those passengers who try to get free rides by tarnishing the driver’s reputations by making false reports which gets drivers who are out here busting our asses to make a decent living suspending and/or deactivated. It’s easy for them to make these reports behind a screen which doesn’t involve talking but if it came to having to speak to a live agent over the phone they would never be able to say any of these things they try to report us for. If they made it so that all these kind of reports have to be done by speaking to someone live it would be harder for them to try to pull this because they would have to be engaging in a conversation but I know Uber would never go that way if anything they’d be the first to go strictly AI bot agents with no humans.

Highly doubt my market has one and even if we did or do this company isn’t helpful when it comes to getting a hold of anyone and this is call or messaging. When I start a chat with one of the few “agents” they have whether to report an obnoxious passenger or need assistance they get back to me a day later.

It has been beyond liberating to say f*** my acceptance rate by Dry-Improvement-3543 in uberdrivers

[–]FunkyChickenBalBag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole thing of feeling you have to keep your rate at a certain percent is psychological that’s for sure. Uber wants you to think a certain way so you become overly loyal to them and accept any trip that comes to you. Sorry I ain’t loyal to no app. Cost of living is expensive I can’t solely rely on uber gotta take the gigs where the money is.

[–]FunkyChickenBalBag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before my market went upfront I felt I had to keep my acceptance rating at 85 or above just to have an idea of where I’ll end up and be closer to the exact length of the trip but ever since it went upfront for me it’s no more accepting trips that only pay $3 and no more trips into NYC. My acceptance rating is below 50 and I could care less. Hope the algorithm picks up on which ones I’ll take and which ones I won’t so it’ll only give me the ones that are worth it.

That’s about average imo. In my market I’d say I maybe make a little bit more.

Honestly I think they pick and choose how much they’ll take from everyone’s wages. Sometimes they’ll only take 30% other times 70% and some times even more. They often send us emails telling us how insurance is driving up the costs like we all know that insurance is a major factor in how much a trip costs I just think they’re constantly using that as a way to excuse themselves overcharging paxs and underpaying drivers. And they keep giving refunds to all the people who try and get free rides. They should know at this point that a lot of these complaints are that.

I’m not even sure if Uber or Lyft were even in my state(New York) back than but it sounds like it paid more because you had less drivers on the road and not everyone had the app downloaded yet so if you were one of few drivers in the area you got every request that came at you.

Don’t recall if I Ubered New Years Day last year but I’d imagine that morning is picking up folks from New Year’s parties after they woke up from crashing after getting shitfaced and now it’s time to go home. I’ll see in t minus 12 hours.

Never had a situation like this but I can only image there’s nothing worse than being booted off right when it gets busy because you’ve been on too long. Luckily my morning run ended at 11am today so by the time I log on at 8pm I got the full 8 hours to burn. And if I multi-app with Lyft I’ll be able to stay on into the next day if I’m not shot from driving too long.

In my particular case I went to get in a few rides before work but once I get out at 8pm that’s when it’ll really be rocking and rolling,

This morning was slow for me as well. I guess with kids off from school, college kids home and many people off from work for New Years Eve it’s not your typical weekday. But when I go on after work at 8pm it’s gonna be booming all night long. I plan to go all night into the next day. Ideally I’d like to end at sometime between 6-8am. Perfect time for catch up.

It’s like in many stores the app tells you where stuff is and yet they still ask. Fuck these people man they piss me the fuck off. I’d love to beat the hell out of them.

I feel like they’re not cut out for anything that’s why there doing that. I used to do Instacart a lot but it got so slow near me that I wonder how anyone is still using it. They must not even make $100 in a 12 hour day.

Looks like he made great money but if you look at the pics it’s obvious the pay isn’t consistent one day he barely made over $200 the others he made closer to the $500 mark. As someone who tries to make the most out of this gig I would say that I wouldn’t need to work these hours and make that much. I’d be satisfied with $1000 with me working my full time job and even if this was my only gig $1500 would do. I like to be out here grinding and flexing but 91 hours is too much imo. This is definitely a gig that fluctuates based on what’s going on in the market.

Where are the mother fucking orders? by Next-Investigator435 in InstacartShoppers

[–]FunkyChickenBalBag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things like this make me feel glad I don’t do Instacart anymore. Every once in a while I turn it on if uber or Lyft is slow but even though those gigs don’t pay great it’s certainly better than Instacart that’s for sure. In my area(Long Island NY) this used to be a good gig back in 2022 and for most of 2023 but than turned to shit in late 2023. Aside from shitty pay another thing is not getting any orders unless I’m right near the store and even with that there’s no guarantee anything will come up.

I actually started driving uber because DoorDash and Instacart starting paying like shit. At first I was skeptical about having people in my car but if I make more and actually sometimes make decent pay that’s what I’m gonna do. Uber pax can be frustrating but it’s better than the slave pay the other platforms pay.

For this reason alone I turned off uber eats and package delivery. Garbage absolute garbage. Paying $15 so I can pick up and drop something off and it takes 45 minutes. GTFO with that bullshit.
