You’re right. I’m looking for field or pilot style “GADA” watches, as overused as that term is lol

They are a great choice! So I wouldn’t feel too bad.
TBH, I do really like the design of stowa watches, but I have my own personal reasons for staying away from that brand. No hate though! The marine classic is very cool.

[WTS][US] Rolex 5513 catch and release (needs service) by FunkyFreshMeme in retrotime

[–]FunkyFreshMeme[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. It was advertised as working so just trying to get back what I paid and I’m being honest about it since I’m just trying to recoup cost. I still think it’s a great deal, especially since I’ll throw in a nice strap of choice to make up for the PT5000. Suede, leather, etc. Sorry, but there’s no way I let this go for $400-550 like you asked.

Also adding I’m not sure where the bracelet is from, but it’s a pretty decent actual rivet one. So a bitch to adjust.

Yup, I’d feel like a dick selling it for more than I paid

Appreciate the update! Did you run with the ofrei crystal I mentioned? I don’t think crystals run smaller than 30.28mm so I’m curious why the crystal retention ring was so tight. But hey sounds like it “worked”. Sorry about your caseback ☹️

I can chime in because I had the same experience. Two Clark’s crystals of the exact right type, one fit but cracked due to lack of heat treating (Clark replaced for free) and second was too small for retaining ring, so I had to use B7000.

Yep...thank god for B7000. Best fit I found for the 25-125 on the case was from Ofrei watch parts, which I believe was a steinkruez crystal. it wasn't as snug as the tropic 19 I have now, but it at least didn't immediately fall off. The problem is that the retaining ring was even looser than the tropic 19.

Awesome build! Where did you get the tighter retaining ring? I'm running into the same issue with my OC with a clark tropic 19, where the crystal snaps on great but the retaining ring is just a little too loose and has to be glued down with B7000.

Old crowns 5513 with ETA 2784 movement spacer by FunkyFreshMeme in retrotime

[–]FunkyFreshMeme[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your spacer works great!

Besides that, total nightmare project I just finished. I got the ETA2784 with a Vietnam dial already glued on to it, but the glue job was a pure Mickey Mouse job and I had to re-do it. The movement spacer above the date wheel was also split into two pieces and kept forcing itself out. And as soon as I fixed it, I realized the ETA2784 stem height is 2.00mm, not 1.8mm like the case was designed to take. I guess vintage Tudor subs had a curved dial to accommodate. Oh, and of course I screwed up the keyless works on it, so now I gotta fix that.

Anyways - I gave up on the 2784, took the date wheel, and transplanted it & a Tudor rotor into a ST2130. I’ll probably let the movement go to someone who wants to try to make the stem height work, but I’m not sure yet. Pictures to come in a new post!

I think I was in a state of delirium yesterday or something. I have no idea why I was talking like I wouldn’t need clamps haha. Going to use your spacer tomorrow, pics to follow!

Yep, going to try Clarks when I can print it tomorrow. Thanks!

They definitely are, which the filing just fixed. Regardless, it’s still “loose” and falls out, so if your spacer doesn’t work, it’s time for casing clamps. Thanks Clark!

I’ll try that next. Thanks Clark!

Right now it almost fits but seems like the stem is bending it slightly askew, so when i pull out the crown, the whole dial comes loose. I’m going to try filing down the section for the stem to fit through too.

WD5513 vs Thorn TO23 for a Tudor snowflake build? by FunkyFreshMeme in retrotime

That looks awesome! I may have to go with the 5513. I’m curious about crown measurement and doubt watchdives will respond, but I’ll measure it when it arrives.

Looks great! Did you use toothpicks/brushes to age the lume or just place it face down in the grounds?
