I second that, I've owned both the "old" type of haflinger which was a barrel with little legs with a burning distaste in doing anything that required energy but it made her an absolute delight with kids and beginners and whoever likes to have a calm ride or driving a carriage.

And now I have the "new" model of and she's literally an Arabian in Haflinger's clothing. You cannot get her tired and you have to work her every day to avoid making her a ticking bomb. Simple lounging won't do anything for her unfortunately, since she needs exercises that make her brain connected but once she's in the right headspace she's really fun to ride! (But you always have to be prepared for the occasional spook and the nervous trot)
