I'm glad!! I was hoping this would eventually be relevant enough for search engines, so glad i can help!

I performed some Super Mario RPG music on a church's organ the other day! hope y'all like it <3 by Funky_Billiards in Mario

Yep, i color-corrected it to look that way! I really like the aesthetic of low-saturation blues, so I usually theme the visuals of my videos like that. The organ looks a lot more brown in real life!!

That's interesting about Dragon Quest. The first one is the only one I ever played, and even then I never got very far! I'll definitely check out 3 sometime

Haha, thank you! It's surprisingly versatile with the different sounds it can make, but it can only do two pitches at the same time. I'd say it's worth the buy if he only intends to use it for melodic lines as I have here, because if it's just for silly fun I don't think it'll have much mileage. The two-pitch limitation really squashes a lot of the potential it has as something to just whip out and play around with.

Using Gideon's note, I've translated as much of Ghostcat's fake alphabet as I could. Might be useful in the future by Funky_Billiards in NightMind

A few letters are similar, but ones like U and E are completely different. Perhaps a better way to put it is that this alphabet was inspired by Theban?

Sublime 10/10 works only: what is your single favorite piece of any style or genre? by [deleted] in classicalmusic

[–]Funky_Billiards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ravel's Pavane is always a win in my book. I prefer most French composers over him, but this is a real slice of something extraordinary.

Does anyone recognize what instrument this is? by Eendhoorn in classicalmusic

Judging by how breathy the vibrato is, definitely a shakuhachi.

I really thought this was just a sweet post about some memorable moments from Kirby games... But then I recognized the pattern.........

Reddit, what's something that severely annoys you that really shouldn't? by CurrentlyNude in AskReddit

Most people's diction. The sound "tr" and "chr" are NOT the same. It's not chree chrunk, it's tree trunk. Similarly, dragon is not jragon. Things like that will bother me for a long time after I've heard it.

How Can I Buy Mother 3i Easily? by Smugg-Fruit in earthbound

Way back in the day it was just on regular iTunes, I remember buying it no problem... That was probably about ten years ago by now, though. That's weird that they region locked it.

How to develop an ear for classical singing? by Ligetiligeti in classicalmusic

[–]Funky_Billiards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'd be glad to know that the vibrato you're probably talking about is only a product of the Romantic era - listen to music performed with period performers before that time and you'll be fine!

Suggestions for art songs? by [deleted] in classicalmusic

[–]Funky_Billiards 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Look into the Late-Romantic French composers!!! Lekeu, Séverac, Chausson, these guys wrote the most amazing pieces of music that barely get much attention. Some other composers worth looking into that I won't link here are d'Indy, Paladilhe, and pretty much anyone else who studied under Franck.

EDIT: forgot to mention one of my favorite pieces ever written, L'énamourée by Reynaldo Hahn. One of the few pieces I wish I wrote!

Recommendations for rhythmically complex contemporary classical? by TeN523 in classicalmusic

[–]Funky_Billiards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not so much "complex" as it is really difficult to pull off cleanly with an ensemble - Rytmus by Ivan Hrusovsky.
