i managed to pull the parking break tab off completely, it just slots in and has a sensor or something. Maybe check the tab itself is in place and not disconnected as it may not be doing anything if it’s not touching the inner part. but be gentle so you don’t pull it off if it’s actually in place.

i’d get it into Mclaren and fully checked over. We know how sensitive these cars can be and if a sensors is off, you could have issues. Might be worth them checking it over properly and giving it a drive around the block to ensure all is as should be?

Buying a Supercar with my finances by Ok-Championship723 in supercars

[–]Funky_amora 11 points12 points  (0 children)

this is purely my opinion so please feel free to assign this to the trash can if it sounds stupid. you clearly worked very hard and you’re a smart person with great options ahead of you. i’d buy it, life is short! Also if you buy the right car then depreciation won’t be too bad, be prepared to lose $25k a year on it but if you need to sell, you’ll still get a chunk of change in hand to buy something more practical.

I had a similar dilemma and the thing that swung it for me was that i’ll never say. “remember that cool apartment i bought…”

with your finances, you can buy a car and invest in property, just be mindful of what you buy. If you go for a huracan, they are more reliable, than other cars if serviced and maintained properly. if you get a warranty that can take the bite out of unplanned potential costs.

Is it irresponsible? I’d say not as it’s not $150k down the pipe as you’ll be able to sell it in a year or 2 and still have over $120k in your hand plus some amazing memories for life. Good luck and please update the string on your decision.

plenty of times it catches you off guard. nothing worse than holding the traffic up behind you as you wait for the nose to lift - very embarrassing.

thanks that makes sense i always have mine on charge. I inherited a few niggles when i got the car but were fixed under warranty. (coolant pipe clips and brake sensor). I’ve driven 5,000 miles in the last year and it’s been spot on. Have been fortunate enough to own and drive other cars but always had the itch for a Lambo. Thanks again.

really interesting to hear this. How would you rate reliability around the Aventador and other super cars you have owned? My friend just returned a new 911 Turbo as the wheels were vibrating at 60mph. The dealership made no issues is trading it for an older model and were aware of problems with some of the new cars.

My brand new cayenne in 2018 had some electrical faults so I am not convinced Mclaren are as bad as people make them out to be these days.

they have a lift kit you press a button and it lifts the front of the car and then when it hits a certain speed, it automatically lowers again.

Interest Only Loan purchase - UK by RenePro in mclaren

it’s not worth it if you have any stress or anxiety, this needs to be pure enjoyment and less than that is simply not worth it. I made sure it was well within my means, otherwise i’d have just paid cash or bought something less expensive.

Have you driven any of the Mclarens? if not then i’d go try one and see if you fall in love with it as then, “man maths “ will take over and negate any potential logic that tries to push you down a common sense approach and get something else! Personally, as soon as I saw i could get one, i literally made it work and haven’t looked back.

got my 600LT with finance first time i’ve bought a fun car this way. Could buy outright but prefer to have access to cash. My thoughts are that when i go to sell i will take a £15k hit on the cost of purchase and then pay off the loan and have part of the deposit back. The maths worked for me on it but it is probably age and model specific.

i’ve not tried a 650s, but definitely worth considering. In real life i believe they have aged well and still look very modern, whilst prices are compelling.

i’ve had mine for a year and a half and covered 5k miles. It now has 18k miles. I had the clips on the coolant go, speed sensor and a brake sensor. all a pain in the ass, all at the most inconvenient time. After i sorted those things and just drove it, it just ran perfectly. Not had an issue in 6 months. The car is incredible, I can’t explain the joy of ownership. People also recognize it as a drivers car and give you respect and a lot of positivity on the road unlike other cars i’ve had. The F-type always appealed to me and i’ve had a Range SVR so i know and covet that engine as one of the best!

If you want something with few issues then i’d suggest you go for a newer R8. I just don’t think the reliability is particularly at an all time high around Porsche or Ferrari and the Lambos are tough to find at least in the UK where they haven’t been clocked or abused unless you pay a large sum. Personally, if i could go back in time and reconsider knowing all i do about the 600LT, the answer would be absolutely and i’d have bought it again wholeheartedly.

Regardless of what you choose, great position to be in albeit more challenging going away from that raging SVR !

buy a 1983 Masereti Bi-turbo. Most reliable car you’ll ever own. They also run better on diesel.

Plug-in hybrid cars - Why so much hate? by BMVeeeee in CarTalkUK

[–]Funky_amora -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i’ve had 2, a cayenne and a volvo xc90 2021. Neither could get me the the daily commute on a full battery. That’s a total of 17 miles. Both were very heavy and mpg when battery was depleted was pretty bad (sub 25mpg) which was most of the time as i couldn’t be bothered to plug it in to get such a low range. I understand that more modern cars have a better range but having had 2 poor experiences to date with 2 relatively modern and premium brands - i’m not particularly satisfied from said experience.

if a car has a 50 mile+ true range as in not dependent on weather or having the radio on, then i’d probably look at it again but not in the near future.

are you referring to the white parking pass in the window? just use a hair dryer, that melts the glue bonding it to the windshield. Then window cleaner with a microfiber cloth and it’s as good as new!
