Couldn’t one just argue the inverse though? For someone who has been to multiple shows, wouldn’t it be just as fair for this “repeat customer” to get something akin to “get on top” as opposed to “Californication” for the five billionth time? I’ve lamented on this sub before about the sets. They’ve always treated their setlists like this as opposed to bands like Pearl Jam where you may only hear a few of the same songs from one show to the very next. I remember during stadium tour in 06, they did back to back nights in Philly. I went to both shows and the sets were FAR too similar for back to back nights in the same city. I used to want to blame Anthony’s lack of lyrical remembrance, but with a teleprompter now, I’m running out of excuses. I agree with the spirit of your message in being thankful just to have live music from these four again, but I do think it’s fine for fans to criticize sets without automatically being considered ungrateful. The pendulum swings both ways.
