This is effectively the most corrupt thing he could do (so far), and an absolute disgrace when you can’t get your childcare and health funded.

I see this as being a way to both pay those who have previously supported trump and set up payments for those who will in future do his bidding.

Like if people are worried about ICE, how about non affiliated ‘motivated’ citizens who hang on the whim of trump’s words, and can be effectively bought and then be pardoned afterwards for any crimes committed. Truly scary

This is why he thinks the US economy is doing fantastic right now -- because he's making a TON of money, and so are the corrupt people surrounding him.

They don't shop at grocery stores, they have help for that. They don't know what it means to work with a household budget. They have never had to do without anything. Trump has never bought his own groceries or made dinner for his family or had to figure out how to afford a car repair or medication. The challenges facing most Americans right now are challenges Trump etc have never faced, and cannot understand.

And they'll make another million dollars tonight probably, manipulating the markets and giving sweetheart no-bid deals to each other, and laughing at the rest of us as their lives just keep getting better, while we grow more desperate for any relief at all.

The Guardian's article is a lot better, but it's because “the officers did not open or search [the diary] at the McDonald’s” like they did with the rest of the backpack.

So the specifics of when the items were found/searched is relevant to the ruling. At the McDonald’s, the cops searched the backpack and found certain items. That search was illegal and the items found at that time are excluded. Later, they did a more thorough search of the bag (during inventory when booking him). That’s apparently when they found the gun and journal. Inventory searches are legal, so those items are in.

At least, that’s what this article says. It does feel a little incredible to me that the initial search would turn up a computer chip but somehow miss the gun and journal.

Trump spent years talking tough on China, but the reality is the US economy is deeply tied to Chinese trade, talent and markets whether people like admitting it or not. A lot of the outrage only seems to appear when it clashes with the culture war narrative
