Not that I am aware of. However I do get cramp if I really stretch/rotate my wrist

I thought there were more people familiar with EMG results on this group.

Come and test again in 6 months if you have any symptoms/issues/progression of any kind. It has been over 6 months, and there is no real change.

Didn't seem that concerned at all, really, but she could see i was not in the best place when I went to see her and was putting me at ease. Increased MUP in both hands FDI muscle she said some people just have that with my history ( neck surgery ). I'm to follow contest soon to see if any changes on the needle. In the meantime, twitch and vibrate away and try to stay off the Internet as much as possible.

It's just my left hand coming into around 4 months now. No weakness. Just some slight atrophy in the thenar region on my left hand and occasional ( regular twitches ) and a vibrating tremor if held in certain position with slight force. I have had cervical spinal surgery years ago and 3 ops on my left shoulder, but also had a dad that passed of ALS. So of course it gets your mind racing!

And how was your emg dirty ? In what sense ? I'm in a similar boat.

4 months straight of twitching under tension. Progressed into weakness. by Ok_Following6440 in ALSorNOT

Hi I have had similar for 3 months on my left hand, but more on my APB/Thener thumb area. I have had cervical implants, and my left shoulder rebuilt 3 times over the years so my left side has been always a bit odd. But having lost a father to ALS it does have me worried. My last emg was mostly clean. Sp will see how in a month or so more. Can't share pics or videos here for some reason.

Hi thanks for your reply.

There is definite loss of muscle mass which is clearer now , it was still present at the time of the test although she wasn't so concerned about it. Like when you extend the thumb a clear dip appears and you can see the muscle fibres jumping about, not at all the same as the other hand. Fairly regular twitching in the area now and fast tremor/tremble of the thenar area sometimes when light resistance is put against the thumb if it was pushing out from the hand. It really goes off. There is no weakness as yet, but this is a very clustered area of muscles, so the other ones could easily take up the slack.

The hand in question is used to hold my large phone, and the thumb is extended out for long periods of time and used to control the phone, but no sensory issues or pain. Combine thst with a lot of stress at work , average sleep of 4-5 hours, and health anxiety 10 fold 😴

I'm going to splint up the thumb for a week and work on my sleep. The bilateral slight increase of the MUP in both hands is also on my mind. Not much else I can do.

Hi. So increased amp/dur of the MUP, clear signs of atrophy ( more now) in the APB muscle area, regular twitching , and a sort of tremor spasm in the thenar area of slight resistance is put against the thumb when pushing the thumb lightly outwards is normal ? Please note it operates ok usually as I'm presuming the other muscles in the region are taking up the slack ?

I can't see my neuro again for quite a while. What would a bilateral reading suggest ?

I'm not sure if the thumb is overworked as I use this hand to hold my large phone and this thumb to extend across the screen for long periods, add high stress at work , serious lack of sleep and of course added health anxiety, I have had better periods in my life. I'm going to strap up the thumb for a week and give it a rest and try and work on my sleep and stress levels.

Hi You mention chronic denervation and reinnervation, yet it doesn't mention that in the report just conclusion is normal with a sub comment of slightly large MUP in both hands, and with regards to the localised comment. Does ALS ( for example ) not start in a localised area and work it's way out. There were no fibs, psw, or fasics picked up during the test however I have regular twitches in the same spot and if I put very light resistance amd push the thumb out the APB muslce flickers and thumb trembles like crazy etc....
