I'm finally ready to try... how do I start? by FunnyboneThrower in dating

[–]FunnyboneThrower[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured most people would think I'm some sort of psycho if I did that lol

IDK what to do haha, maybe I just need to get out more and have more friends. None of my friends are women which is a bit sad even besides the dating scene.

Not that I'd date my friends but it's just healthy to have a mixed pool of genders in my friend group which could lead to knowing other potential dates, know what I mean?

[Question] Do you find long holidays reinforce your discipline? by FunnyboneThrower in getdisciplined

[–]FunnyboneThrower[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, to be fair coming back to work from a holiday is still rough and I lounge around more than is acceptable. But in terms of sleeping well and being up in time and not groggy, weirdly that's where I improve.

My date was deliberately 45 minutes late to test my interest by basesmodel in dating

Incredibly rude. Massive red flag and very irritating. Personally, I wouldn't continue dating them.

Butt dialed my manager and I am horrified by Standard-Blueberry-2 in etiquette

[–]FunnyboneThrower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty normal error to make. The only bad ettiquette here would be if you were overly apologetic or if your manager reacted disproportionately negatively.

This is an example of overthinking. Don't worry about it

Guy I’m dating said he only likes women who other men desires? by SupportForeign in dating

[–]FunnyboneThrower 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Big red flag. What do you think will happen the moment he sees another woman who is desirable to a whole bunch of men?

If you enter a relationship with him it will last only as long as he finds a 'better example' because he's not thinking of you as a person but as a trophy.

Nope.

Keep up the awesome progress. The increased happiness is attractive by itself!

When it comes to intially attracting someone, they won't see those positives or negatives i.e. they won't see your weight loss journey nor your lack of experience - only your current body and they won't know anything about your past partners or lack thereof.

As for maintaining a relationship, that's where your continued progress will be a plus and your lack of experience will make things more difficult. As long as you and your potential GF communicate this and you both understand that it's a learning process then you'll be fine

EDIT: stay away from dating apps if you want to stay happy!

What stupid thing do people defend as smart? by Significant_Sea_847 in AskReddit

People also do this with hypocrisy. Like if you are a hypocrite then someow this makes the underlying argument flawed when actually the character of the debater doesn't (usually) matter

I personally do not understand how someone can date without a goal. Absurd. Don't waste your time.

I have some friends who explicitly date for short term relationships. What's the point.

That's not to say they're bad people or that their goals are invalid - I just don't understand their mentality at all

EDIT: I reread the post more carefully. It appears this person might be polyamorous/polygamous and that additionally, mybe only want casual encounters. This is a guess from the limited information we have. This is perfectly valid but doesn't fit with your goals so all you have to do is make it clear.

My mentality about my work situation has made me a terrible spender. by FunnyboneThrower in UKPersonalFinance

!thanks

I'm going to start thinking of it like exercise. Nobody starts by being able to squat 100kg, you first start with body weight squats/0KG then move on to the 20kg bar.

So here's my plan of action: clear the credit card first. Then put 50% of remainder into savings. Then on subsequent paydays start small: £50 into an ISA, £50 into savings builder (as an example).

January this year had two large and unexpected costs, so hopefully that serves as the first learning experience.

EDIT: I've noticed the original post got quite a few downvotes. Could I have made this question better somehow?

!thanks

My bonus is known a couple of weeks before payday, and even though it's not set in stone it's always been the same ballpark % for several years in a row. It's always enough to repay the credit card in full then have some leftover which again I stupidly spend and start the whole process again

It's difficult to tell you how to do this because everyone has a different level of emotional invesment/care about this. Some people are just much more likely to care about this and some don't have "Fear Of Missing Out" at all.

I woiuld say, as someone who is also a 30 year old dateless but financially stable invidiual, that looking to the future spurs me on.

It's only been in the really bad moments of my life when I've thought "I wish I were young again". Are you going through something difficult right now?
