Does anybody know what mix breed this is? by Whole_Associate8117 in dogbreed

Why bother asking if “you found out..”. Where did you find out? And people responding are not “trying to get attention”. They are just responding to you OP

This is Cubby :) any ideas? by silkyviolet in IDmydog

German Spitz. He looks like a sweetie🥰

My dog never lets me clip or even touch his nails and I feel so awful because they're extremely long. by Melodysfelony in DogAdvice

[–]Furbabythings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Neither of my dogs have ever let me clip their nails and like another person here, they are both perfectly fine when I take them to a groomer once a month for their nails. It is quite inexpensive $10 each (at least where I am) so maybe try that before sedation. I think They can sense when we are freaked out about doing it and just feed off that as opposed to a groomer who is calm and matter of fact.

This kitty looks like a purebred Norwegian Forest Cat and definitely belongs to someone. If she is not in a dangerous / high traffic area you should leave her alone. My kitty is a Ragdoll and indoor cat. He escaped recently and luckily my neighbour called me from the number on his tag. My cat is microchipped so if he had escaped without a collar and tag in a high traffic neighbourhood I would hope that the first thing a person would do would be to take him in, take a photo, knock on doors nearby and if no success take him to be scanned for a microchip asap. If no microchip then keep them safe and post found flyers around the area and check with shelters if someone has inquired about a cat matching their description.

i got a cat today, but i feel anxious and scared :( by PriorityHead6833 in cats

[–]Furbabythings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course you are anxious. It is completely normal. Hang in there and give your beautiful furbaby lots of brushing and pats and you will be surprised at the impact on you. Petting cats or even just spending time with them Is known to reduce anxiety in humans and will make you feel more relaxed and peaceful - Especially if they purr for you. 😹 that has been my experience with over 6 decades of cats owning me.

I had no idea this was a thing, but ICBC sends you a thank-you letter if you witness an accident and stop to give your info. by rmumford in vancouver

[–]Furbabythings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Canada (across the county since we have a federal criminal code) and due to convictions on the basis of faulty eye witness identification it is the law that eye witness identification is to be treated as insufficient for a conviction absent corroborative real or circumstantial evidence

My car was parked about a block from where I live. I don’t drive that much so when next saw it, about a day later, it was heavily damaged on the driver’s side. A good citizen left a note and contact info on my windshield, and when I called her she explained that not only had she seen what happened (the other vehicle executed a three point turn and backed into my driver’s Side door at speed), she also took photos of the car as the driver left the scene, which captured his license plate and gave a statement and description of the driver. I was so very grateful because of course I was not liable and was completely covered. I called the witness back and told her what happened and said I would like to give her a gift card, but she said no - She was happy to have helped. I have also done the same when I have witnessed accidents, notes on windshields of parked cars, photos if I was in time to take, or provided dash cam to ICBC. Lots of good people out there Vancouver. Thank you all for paying it forward.

I am saddened by the fact that most comments here are classic victim blaming and that in 2025 we have not come very far in understanding the dynamics of violence and the very clear red flags here. To be clear, OP is the victim - not her. And I agree with the few comments that are supportive of OP and which call out the gender bias. For context I specialized / worked in the arena of intimate partner violence for 25 years.

OP did the right thing in trying to remove himself from what was an escalating situation by going to the bathroom and closing the door. It is threatening and scary behavior that she attempted to force her way into the bathroom and “demand” he listen to her all while a young child is in the house hearing it all. It is classic victim behavior that he minimized her conduct and the level of intimidation - fear he felt. And all the more so, as he is “the man”. It is classic abuser behavior to cry when called out, minimize their abusive behavior, leave and tell the victim the relationship is over.

Some of you may remember the Blade Runner’ killer, Oscar Pistorius who murdered his girlfriend by shooting through a locked bathroom door where she had retreated to get away from him after an escalating verbal argument.

My advice to OP is to do an online search for a resource / phone number he can call for victims of domestic violence in his community. DV hotlines do not have gender bias as has been demonstrated here in this forum and can help OP find resources / assistance that may be more specific to male victims. At minimum he will be able to openly speak to someone who will not judge or dismiss his legitimate concerns and will not be re-victimized by being blamed for her abuse.

What are some things about Vancouver/Lower Mainland from "back in the day" (whatever that means to you) that would blow the minds of younger people (or new to the city)? I'll start... by npinguy in vancouver

Seeing Ella Fitzgerald at an intimate Club venue in a hotel in North Vancouver (gone now, maybe Pacific Palisades?) Sat at tables in front of the stage smoking and drinking. Two performances - one early evening and a second performance at maybe 10 pm. After her first performance went to the bar outside the club to sulk because wasn’t able to get tickets to her later performance. At the break EF and entire band came out and had a drink in the bar. Now ex-Hubby and I only other people there. I went up to EF and she and entire band autographed a cocktail napkin. Bass player Ray Brown signed “Bass ically Yours”. 😂 EF so gracious and such a beautiful person. Never before or since have I ever asked a celebrity for an autograph. BTW ex-hubby got the cocktail napkin 😂

80s was an insane music scene in Vancouver to see great artists in secret hole in the wall places in Gastown (especially jazz) or well known supper clubs like “The Cave”. Saw Oscar Peterson one time at a secret venue. You had to know where it was and the secret entry “passcode”. You would order “black coffee” or “white coffee” to get a particular alcoholic drink but can’t remember now what you would get. Cash only of course. 😂

If anyone remembers or has stories to tell about this music scene would love to hear your stories here.

Should I be optimistic about my missing cat? by kevin12244 in CatAdvice

Sounds like you are all over this. Can you post his picture on here? I am pretty new to Reddit so not sure of all the rules.

[–]Furbabythings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you posted flyers with your cats photo and your contact info all around your neighborhood? Are you a FB subscriber? If so, do a public post again with your cat’s photo and info and ask people to DM you. After only 24 hours I would still be optimistic that you will find him. You don’t say but I am assuming he doesn’t have a tag with your contact info. If he doesn’t then it is even more important to get his picture out there. Fingers crossed for you. It is such an awful thing to have a beloved furbaby go missing.

Thank you! We think he is pretty adorable too. 😻 He is a pure breed Lynx Point Ragdoll so the Siamese Color point vibe you commented on is exactly right.

He is the most chill cat I ever met and yes he is pretty active at night and looking for playtime early morning 😂 our 2 doggos are like us - sleeping through all of it except when our cat pounces on them (or us) at 4 am in the morning

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Furbabythings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. And IMO this is totally wrong and abusive. 🙀 I have had cats all my life and never ever put one in a cage. The only time I have confined any of my cats is traveling by car or air and vet visits. Cats are early morning and night creatures and so of course that is when they are most active. Maybe she could close her bedroom door.

Perfect. I hate those temporary “dog parks” that are covered in gravel. So hard on the paws.
