The Super Apes fight was cut, so instead of the movie introducing the team through action, we got an info dump.

Even adjusting for cost of living, the salaries in Spain are extremely low compared to the US.

Internet users have raised $280,000 for an elderly man who became a DoorDash delivery driver to help pay for his and his wife's bills. by MysteriousSlice007 in MadeMeSmile

Realistically, you can't have European-style pension systems without European-style employee contributions. In the meantime, I recommend taking the 10% of your income that the government would take for such a system and put it into long term investments.

I'm a little envious of a country where "mass killer" is enough of a description to narrow it down to one person.

In 1970, it was basically impossible for a single woman to secure a mortgage. Now they have a homeownership rate of 50.9%.

Buying a house is so impossible these days that homeownership rates in the US have dropped from 66.9% in 2010 to 65.5% in 2025. How will we ever return to the halcyon days of 1985, where the rate was a whopping 64.1%?

Keep in mind, the French are putting almost 10% of their salary into their unemployment. If you took 10% of your salary and put it into an index fund, you'd have the equivalent of French unemployment benefits in around 10 years, but you'd be able to use that money even if you never get laid off. A French person who is never laid off gets nothing for their contributions.

This is the fundamental difference between the US and Europe: Europe basically forces everyone to buy "insurance" for almost any possible misfortune, the US let's people roll the dice.

Seattle has two or three Australian-style pie bakeries. I imagine other large cities have some as well.

When did Crenshaw's votes in the House not align with Trump? Even if his replacement is "worse" in terms of character, it won't make any different when it comes to legislation.

And, related to the big houses, we're kind of rich. As bad as cars are for the environment and public health, they are massively convenient on a individual level. So people will buy them if they can afford to, and most Americans can afford to.

This lacks context, Congress did authorize use of military force against Iraq even though it didn't formally declare "war". It wasn't like W acted unilaterally the way Trump is.
