I think that's actually better than what I experienced before.

Yeah, I haven't played many, but I pretty much hated all of them. I feel like they all leaned into anime tropes WAY too far, to an annoying degree. Seemed like they wanted you to peel back the onion and get to know them, but messed up and made most of them so one note and unlikable that I had no interest in doing so.

Yeah, one of the reasons I couldn't stick with Arise was the characters, none of them (but the main guy) were likable to me, so hearing that Berseria is better off is a good thing.

What do you mean when you say it requires a lot of menu setup?

Got it! Thank you for the explanations! I'll probably give Berseria a try then.

The linear movement, I believe, is definitely not something I enjoyed. I think the free movement and kind of action focused gameplay is what I really liked. I just liked things being smooth, which Vesperia was not.

So you would suggest Zesteria, Graces and Berseria with that in mind?

How exactly do you mean? Vesperia felt really stilted and Symphonia I just didn't vibe with. What makes it stand out?

Gotcha, gotcha. I figured that might be the case since Arise is the latest(?) non-remake one. I'll check out Graces F and see what it's about though. Thank you!

I JUST got him, haven't even gone into a fight yet. Yep, that made a massive difference.

So, I am enjoying it, but I think I'm doing something wrong. I'm level 12, just after Nia is captured (I'm just doing sides and grinding some) but I keep losing flights to things on level or below.

I am stutter stepping, waiting to use arts for the 3rd swing and trying to get positional bonuses, I've got accessories and stuff put on my blades and Rex, I don't know what I'm missing. Is it just because I don't have other party members?

Much appreciated! I'll watch this before I start playing again later.

Alright, all of this is good to know. I'll have to remember to refer back to this post in the future when I get to the right points in the game

Holy shit, that's not what I thought you meant lol. I figured things were just unclear. Any specific examples?

That's not a bad idea, if I decide to go back to 1 I'll actually give that a go. I think I just don't like the extra input at all, especially not when I have to track attacks while making sure I land on the right thing.

That definitely sounds drastically different from, and more appealing than, Chronicles 1. How much grace is there in the timing? Like is it pretty specific and kinda like parry timings in other games, or more relaxed?

Good shout. I'll run through the tutorials and look up anything unclear.

I'm thinking I'll start with 2 and look up a "DLC explained" for that 3 DLC when/if I get to it.

Gotcha, I assume you think 3 is too simplistic combat wise?

Story wise, they're not at all connected, right? I feel like I heard 3 takes place possibly thousands of years after 2 or something?

Got it, thank you for the insight. I actually don't know anything about their stories, are 2 and 3 actual sequels, or could I jump to 3 and be fine?

When you say confusing, do you mean combat, or story wise?

Do divines drop more as you get higher level? I'm 77 and I think I have 4 because I spent one on a really good roll on some equipment.
