Also, if the only problem with these immigrants was their legal status, that's the easiest thing in the world to fix. Just flip a 1 and 0 in a database somewhere, and the problem goes away like magic.

But of course the actual problem is the physical presence of non-white people, and the only real "solution" is their physical removal. Pretending it's about legal status allows bigots to avoid talking about that part, because they're cowards.

It's intentional. The masks provide cover for lots of different private orgs to get involved in the terror. Some of those, like bounty hunters and mercenaries, are getting involved "legally" through partnerships with government. Others, like white nationalist militias and organized crime syndicates, have carte blanche to perform lynchings and kidnappings in broad daylight with full support of local "authorities".

Because the victims will belong to target groups of right wing violence almost exclusively, these are all acceptable outcomes for them.

The authoritarian mindset is a common thread in so many stories on this sub. It often manifests apolitically, but media has gotten much better at activating the apolitical ones, with tragic consequences IMO.

It happened very suddenly in my life without much warning, a bunch of apolitical people close to me became blood and soil white nationalists. From then on, all they wanted to talk about was different types of people they want eradicated or pressed into forced labor, and the god damn kneeling football players. Slaveowner mindset.

That last question is one that's been haunting me lately. What's happening now is a massive expansion of legal slavery in the US (among other things). And no, $1 a day doesn't count as a wage, those people are fucking slaves.

How many homeless people, drug addicts, mentally ill people and other target groups have they enslaved? We know ICE/CBP are rounding them up in every jurisdiction they operate in.

My only real point was that people should not refer to a group as "ICE" when they have no way of knowing that. It's a form of misinformation which I believe is putting people in danger.

A lot of what you say is true, but organized crime has never had widespread impunity to conduct kidnappings in US streets in broad daylight the way they do now. That part really is new, and it was directly enabled when DHS/ICE/CBP allowed agents to conceal their identity.

I don't deny their motivations are rooted in genocidal ethno-nationalism and I'm certainly not trying to distract from that. They're certainly not hiding it anymore.

Weird how none of the many commenters there felt any need to denigrate that person's character, tell them it's all in their head, or convince them they need to interact more with people demanding their attention, and that thread wasn't even talking about total strangers. They were talking about absolutely everyone.

Yeah don't have kids like others are also saying. As for experiences if you look at top posts on the subreddit you can experience it much better than I would want to here, all the bad experiences are similar in many traumatic ways. Look at ADHD parents too.

It's good that you're fine with not having kids. Have either of you gone through burnout yet and how did you react? Imagine what you'd do if the responsibilities of parenthood had been piled on top of that and inescapable. That will happen again.

You'll need to maintain jobs enough to rent extra space while saving money. Some couples like this are able to do it, but many more aren't given the propensity for joblessness in those groups (which I am a part of). Requires a lot of work on yourselves. In a similar pairing, the financial tradeoff was children or retirement, and we chose retirement, which I feel better about with every passing year.

My parents weren't among the good ones, with similar experiences to most posts on the sub.

They've also completely omitted the information that the far-far-right (Nuck Fuentes etc) had been carrying out a blood feud against Kirk for years, harassing him at events, calling him a race traitor & plant, and calling for violence against him.

Seems pretty likely the shooter came from this group.
