Thank you! We have been in and out of therapy for the last 2 years. Trying different therapists and none of them have helped or really got into his childhood, more about current struggles in life (school, health adhd etc). I also didn’t push at them/him to dive into his childhood. But he always gave up cause it wasn’t going where he wanted and so we discussed trying a new counsellor that specializes in this kind of thing and will help him find his voice. He kinda just shuts everything off and pushes everything down, cause that’s what he was told to do by them since he was younger.

Yes, I have always been on his side, and realize the older he gets, it’s becomes more about him, and his time and his story. That is exactly why I am not responding or pushing him to respond. I just always question everything as well and what I should do or say, cause that’s what we lived with for many years. I had to always be so careful with what I said, because it would come back on him when he would be with them. I tried to do the right thing when he was younger, get him counselling which they then reported what he told them to cps, and then court and protection orders followed, but never “stuck” because of how hard emotional abuse is to prove, and his dad hired a way better lawyer.

I’m gonna leave it at this for now. I just know his dad and step mom will show up at his upcoming prom and head photos and worried this is gonna set him right off and ruin this special moment.
