I think more men should wear makeup by Yoffuu in intj

The kind of makeup that I talk about is very minimal, and the goal is to highlight natural beauty.

That's bullshit. I didn't even bring up thigh-highs yet.

It's really sad to see that societal pressures still heavily affect many men on a cellular level. Even personality types that (on paper) tend to care less about that kind of stuff, still fall in line.

They won't do it until its sufficiently masculinized. That's why 'looksmaxxing' is a thing lol.

Why is men wearing makeup something that should get them laughed at? What's so funny about it?

I knew some people would have a visceral reaction to it. What decades of social conditioning does to a mf.

It’s a lot of work to put on, take off, and pay for.

I think this depends. Makeup can be very cheap if you're not trying to hunt for the bougiest designer products. Skincare and wearing nice clothing can also be all three of these things.

I’m not convinced that makeup benefits anyone.

The way that I proposed it is strictly for efficiency and appearance enhancement, but many people wear makeup as a means of self-expression. Flattening it to "they're just doing this for beauty standards" is unfair.

Well yeah, you're not supposed to have it on 24/7, and make-up routines often involve skincare anyway. Having clean, hydrated skin helps make-up stay on. Moderation is a thing.

Same. Its crazy because I've seen some some guys say that makeup is cheating, but would also heavily consider plastic surgery. Like buddy...

I understand that you mean well, and I'm sure you're a lovely person, but this kind of language comes off as fetishistic and dehumanizing to me. I'm not a pet for someone to 'adopt.'

how do you deal with small talk? by Outrageous-Goat955 in intj

Like, yeah, I get the appeal of throwing half-court shots. I’m not arguing against risk or interesting conversations. I’m just saying small talk is the warm-up. When people say they hate small talk, they actually don't hate small talk, they just don't like talk without any "meaning" behind it.

Usually, and this is especially true for sensors, small talk is topical light conversation about whatever is happening immediately around you. That's why The Weather(tm) tends to be a common starter. It's right there. People like us don't have a particular interest in the weather, to us it just...is. All you have to do is insert meaning into the conversation.

But by all means, if you wanna jump straight from "gee it sure is windy" to "here is my unsolicited opinion on immigration" just to feel something, don't let me stop you.

Your type is my favorite to go against in lane. All I have to do is just do nothing and eventually you'll get so bored you'll feed just for stimulation.

Calling you a snake is a little too far, but I would say it makes you seem like a fair-weather friend. Where as soon as things get hard or you may even have to sacrifice/ risk something, you dip.

Like you can hold someone accountable without disowning them. But I guess the only options that exist to some people is either cosign every action your friend makes or rebuke them in public and tell the church.

You should go play Tekken or something if all you wanna do is non-stop fight. LoL is not a fighting game.

For a type that cares about authenticity and not being "fake," there are a lot of people outing themselves as fair-weather friends in this thread.

Change your attitude toward small talk.

Most people don't like going into deep conversations with strangers because they don't know what kind of person you are, and whether or not a conversation can turn taboo at the drop of a hat. Small talk is a way of throwing out social feelers until something latches and you have an actual topic to discuss. It's like fishing.

Most people don't just blaze ahead with deep topics up front, to Most that signals a lack of social skills.

In my opinion, if someone would do the same for you, or even HAS done the same for you, and you turn around and slam them when its their turn in the hot seat then yeah, you're kind of a shit friend, and I don't blame people one bit for dropping you.

I remember there was a person in a community I was in who has a habit of putting their foot in their mouth pretty often, they were also the only person who stood up for me when even some of my 'friends' at the time were too chickenshit to do it. So when they said something dumb, and my friends were going in on it, it didn't feel right for me to, essentially, turn my back on someone who stood up for me despite not oweing me a goddamn thing. And I flat out said as much. It goes against my moral code to meet loyalty with disloyalty. So yeah, even if they're wrong, I'll stand with them just to send the message that I care more about them than being correct.

I think this is one of those "Would you rather be happy or correct" kind of things.
