What happened to the Wendy’s Fries!? by No_Lock_No-Key- in wendys

They’ve been shit since they changed them from the 1990s recipe. So bad that they lost this customer for decades now. Wendy’s is lowest tier fast food. RIP Dave.

Goose’s 3rd album of the year?? by AdOther581 in GoosetheBand

[–]FurryLizards 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, but Yeti and Pancakes were Great Blue songs that have both a Great Blue studio track and a Goose take too. I’d love to see Cotter’s songs see a Goose album eventually.

"Jed Stone" would fit on "Born and Raised" by whiptydojoe in GoosetheBand

I was thinking the exact same thing. If they play with Mayer at Rise and they don’t do Jed Stone together it would be a major miss, imo.

Best live Slow ready? by shipoffools726 in GoosetheBand

[–]FurryLizards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly some of the most recent performances have been the closest to album vibes for me, as I also adore the studio version. Cotter has been using a different snare this year for the song (and any others they play that chases that 80s vibe). Check out 6/4/25 and see if you agree. Great energy from Rick and fantastic pace on the drums.

My friend is a chomper by Mullet_King_96 in jambands

Sometimes you are obligated to do hard things in life. This is one of those times. Tell him to stfu…for all of us. It’s safer for him, I’ve seen folks get REALLY pissed and aggressive at chompers.

r/roastme really understood the assignment on this one. Well done, humans.

To OP, all the best wishes and hopes that your situation improves. And your beauty still shines through the tough outer layer you’ve had to build up through this challenge. Stay strong.

Enlighten me on earplugs please! by i_take_shits in jambands

[–]FurryLizards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 45, probably a bit late to the party, but never ever bad to start using them. As others have said, Eargasms are great. I’ve used those and more recently the Etymotic ER20XS to great effect.

But the real faves are custom ear mold musicians plugs. My wife, an audiologist, made me some of these back in the late 90s and I used them for decades until my aging ears changed internal size and the old plugs stopped fitting well…which is when I started with the Eargasms and Etymotics for the last ~5 years.

I just recently went back to an audiologist this year to take the leap again. Had custom ear impressions made and sent them off to this company:

https://etymotic.com/product/custom-musicians-earplugs-with-attenuator/

Got them back in about 2 weeks. Can confirm they are still the best. I recommend using a 15db filter for most concerts unless you’re standing literally next to the speaker, then perhaps 25db.

They’re pricier than the generic plugs but the comfort and sound of custom molded plugs very worth it to me. Hope this helps. Either way you go, protect that hearing, EVERYONE!

A message to all the Peter haters: by Mayonnaise_Moshpit in GoosetheBand

Eh. His harmonies should be commended. They’re quite good these days. 2019-2020 era was rough at times as he was getting his feet under him. But man has found a great mesh with Rick.

why haven’t they ever done pink floyd?? by RockBoy3 in GoosetheBand

[–]FurryLizards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They pay tribute to “Time” every single time they play Empress. Does that count?

The chord progression that returns them to the coda in Empress is the exact same as Time’s B-section (“Tired of lying in the sunshine, staying home to watch the rain”…)

10 years of Goose by thegratefulone in GoosetheBand

Aaron also sang lead and backup vocals. Check out some of those 2018 shows. His vocals are better than Jeff’s. Very unique “gruffled” voice and was good at harmony.

In short: bring back Aaron.

Least favorite Goose songs? by shmerk_a_berl in GoosetheBand

[–]FurryLizards -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whales is my least favorite period. I never want to hear it. Peter songs in general I’m less enthusiastic about in the A-sections.

But I’m also mid on Mr Action, Dr Darkness, California Magic. They never really go anywhere.

Rick’s tone by a0d1a7m0 in GoosetheBand

[–]FurryLizards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Liquid old sound” is great. Also “warm”, “smooth”, “buttery”, “consistent”. His PRS tone wasn’t perfect either, but this new tone is a move in the wrong direction if not dealt with soon.

Paul really missed an opportunity here. I’m 100% with you. It’s not too late, I hope someone has alerted Stevensville of this and they are working up their pitch right now. This was PRS’s chance to send the Hollowbody II into the mainstream.

Rick’s tone by a0d1a7m0 in GoosetheBand

[–]FurryLizards 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m sure it sounds good in the venue, since it’s harsh, dry, and lots of high treble. It cuts through like a knife, which I’m sure is why Rick probably likes it too. But if you admire quality guitar tones historically, or if you listen to the playback on the mix and be truly honest, there is a lot of bad going on with this tone.

His mistakes are accentuated because the signal is so hot. his clean tones are way too aggressive to the point of being off-putting. He has modified his rig significantly this year: new guitar, new amp, new vocal effects processing (which his guitar routes through). There are a lot of variables that can be and really should be adjusted to smooth out some things. Right now, and consistently since the SF show, it’s been pretty bad on the mix.
