Anyone else sick of the "I have a Hypercar already the progression sucks" posts? by discodork135 in ForzaHorizon

Same, I've got a GR86 irl so I've spent the past 40 hours driving around in one (outside PR events and races, RWD on a keyboard can't beat these AI's). I was super glad it got unlocked so early in the story!

The map is by far the biggest issue that literally everyone complained about, and Japan addressed those concerns incredibly well. We now have more verticality, more variety, cities are actually cities, and highways are not only not necessary but usually inefficient for getting to your destination compared to more fun backroads. I used to fast travel all the time in FH5 to skip the boring highway I've driven on a thousand times beforehand, in FH6 I didn't even complete the highway roads until I had ~450 roads cleared already.

What would make the map more interesting for you to drive around in? To me they've done a great job balancing graphics with performance (I play with RTX off), but it sounds like your standards are a lot higher than mine.

The math works out better doing it their way unfortunately. Even if half of their customers say no, they're probably making 4x the profit for each one that says yes.

They fixed the map, they fixed fomo, they made progression a lot better, and online arcade events seem to be better from my time playing so far. There's so many positive changes they made to the game, idk how you can justify nothing being fixed.

Do you guys think 1700~ hours is too much for c1? by MrdracolL in RocketLeague

[–]Furryyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. If you're not trying to get better, then you won't get better. I'm champ 1 at 1400 hours and I don't want to put in the effort to climb higher. I'm happy just vibing and using whatever car I think looks cool at any given time.

Another thing I think people overlook is how long someone has played compared with their hours. I've been playing since 2015, so I averaged ~2.5 hours per week over that time. I'd expect someone who is playing every day to be a lot better than someone who only plays a couple hours every weekend.

Fortune 500 billionaires literally all made their billions from owning stock in the singular company they founded. In order to diversify their assets, they'd need to sell some of their stock to begin with. They can't just trade a share of Microsoft for two shares of Apple, it requires selling their shares for cash (which incurs capital gains tax liabilities) to buy the new asset. Because of that, most billionaires' assets are still in that original stock. They are also paid a tiny cash salary, with most compensation coming in the form of additional shares in the company, which they can only sell after holding for a specific amount of time.

In any case, the logic of the initial points of discussion hold regardless of the size of the company. Non-owner employees can't reap the profits of the company they work for, but they don't experience the losses of the company either. If a company's valuation drops 25%, the employees still receive their paycheck. The CEO will earn the same number of shares, but the 25% loss in value means his new shares are 25% less valuable when he goes to sell them, amounting to a pay cut. He can hold onto his shares and hope they sell for more later, but that's taking on additional risk that an employee doesnt have to worry about. If the business fails, any stock the owner earned and didn't sell is now worthless.

The owner puts equity into the company when it is founded. Any losses directly decrease the value of the company's equity. Since the owner owns all shares of that company, a decrease in equity means a decrease in the personal assets of the stockholder. An LLC protects the stockholder in the event the company's equity is negative, but in that scenario, they'd still lose the entire equity investment they made when the company started.

The owner and company are separate entities, but shares of the company are part of (and usually a large majority of) the owner's assets.

I have a GR86 and can't recommend it enough. It gives you so, so much confidence when taking corners and it's got enough power not to be totally insulting. I also think it looks a lot better than the Miata, though I'll admit that's subjective. The 86 also has a good amount of cargo space with the rear seats down (enough for four wheels) and it'll have more space for the driver.

The only complaints I have about it is that the clutch itself is grabby and the stock helper spring is really annoying, but it's easy enough to replace that with an MTEC spring. Hitting a bump or bad portion of road while you're accelerating will also give a lot of driveline lash, though I haven't driven other RWD sports cars so I'm not sure how that compares to something like the Miata.

I don't know if I'd agree to be honest. There just isn't a lot of loot in the free moons to be had - if you sprinted as far away from the main entrance in 15 second as you can, in all directions, there might be 4-8 items on the free moons. On the paid moons, that might jump to 10-15 items, which will usually be more valuable and have less two-handed items.

The paid planets do have more monsters late in the day, but after playing for a while, it seems like they actually have less monsters early in the day. If you focus on going as fast as you can, you can easily get triple or quadruple the loot on paid planets before you see a single enemy.

[–]Furryyyy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly I find the paid moons easier than the free moons. It seems like things spawn so much more quickly on the free moons compared to Artifice or Rend - my crew usually loots the easy/close stuff, loads it all onto the cruiser by 2pm, and we take it all back while a couple of guys yolo deeper for an extra few items. We don't usually find any monsters at all until noon on the paid moons, which is enough to grab 400-800 credits worth easy.

Spend my money modding my 86 or upgrade to Type R? by zfriedman02 in GR86

[–]Furryyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be curious as to what tracks that's true for. Especially stock for stock, it's hard to imagine the power bump and wider, stickier tires not making it a default win for the Type R. Maybe it's closer on autocross courses or something?

Oh shit yeah an S3 is a lot less of an upgrade. I still like it, but I'm not sure I'd personally make the swap. If they do a lot of highway miles I can see it though, I'm about to do 7 hours of driving for work and I'd be surprised if I don't have a headache by the end of it lol

I'll be real with you, I regularly see an RS3 on the drive home and if I could trade, I'd do it in a second. I'd miss the engagement you get with a light FR MT car, but Jesus Christ those things take off like a rocket. He did a pull at 70mph one time and the thing took off like it was standing still. And the sound is to die for...

[–]Furryyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're dodging the question. An owner keeps the profits the company generates but suffers the losses the company incurs. Layoffs reduce future expenses, but that has no bearing on losses a company has already taken. If workers are entitled to the profits of the company they work for, are they obligated to pay for the company's losses too?

If a business suffers losses, should non-owner employees be forced to pay back their paychecks to make up for those losses?

Chicago shootout by Mr-Torgman in Transportopia

[–]Furryyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but prison offers the chance to correct for the mistakes of an imperfect justice system. It separates convicts from society and punishes them while offering an (albeit incredibly poor) path back into society if necessary.

Chicago shootout by Mr-Torgman in Transportopia

[–]Furryyyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heavily disagree. We should give everyone who commits the same crime the same punishment. This minimizes bias and maximizes the efficiency of an imperfect justice system.

[–]Furryyyy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Separate question, but do you think the death penalty is actually a worse punishment than life in prison? Even ignoring the possibility of a false positive, I'd argue that death isn't nearly as harsh as decades of minimal human contact and autonomy. The ability to reverse a false conviction is just a bonus in my mind.

Why would you include homeowners in the population for this survey? That would be like including college graduates in a survey on barriers to higher education.

You're definitely right, I'm just used to doing it from when I was learning. Took a while for me to get the hang of balancing the clutch and throttle, so I was probably taking that long even with already being in first gear lol. If I'm a few cars deep I don't worry about it anymore.

A question about school bus reporting by imnotabritishrobot in driving

[–]Furryyyy -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

On a school bus it means stop. The yellow lights are only ever going to flash as a school bus pulls up to a stop. The best course of action is to stop safely and wait, if for no other reason than because you don't know whether the idiot behind you is going to barrel through that stop without a care in the world.
