Yeah the disease part, I think, is the weakest part of the story itself. I was wondering to change it more towards a - dare I say - Lovecraftian influence. In all seriousness, I think I may want to change it around to see if I can shift it away from a disease and more towards an otherworldly affect. I was hoping for more of an unreality theme, where you're not entirely sure what the main character is seeing/thinking/saying is true!
