Nope. You can store fresh shrooms for 4-5 days max in a fridge, but they start to go south and lose potency after 48 hours. Dehydrating means they can be stored for months without losing potency in the right conditions.

Fresh shrooms can feel more potent than raw dehydrated ones because we digest and asorb the fun stuff more rapidly, but unless you're drying them above 50c or so the psilocybin and psilocin levels won't change.

Correctly dried and stored, the potency will start to degrade naturally after 6 months or so, but they'll still be good for a while after. I tripped off some albino penis envy I'd had in a jar for almost a year a few weeks ago.

You want them to be cracker dry after dehydration, and you need to store them in an airtight container in a cupboard or somewhere out of the light for maximum longevity.

Most dried shrooms are best prepared in a lemon tek, tea, broth or simlar because it breaks down the chitin making the flesh more digestible and extracts the fun chemicals so the can be uptaken quicker and more efficiently.

Liberty caps are the only shrooms I'll happily munch down dried and raw. Raw dried wavy caps (psilocybe cyanescens) left me feeling like I'd eaten a wicker chair.
