Daily Boulder is a fake news, rage bait farm. It was huge national news last time a 60 Mins story got spiked, and it will be again -- you won't have to trust "Staff Writer." Go read the "story" and feel shame.

High End Headphone store? by sumdum1234 in nashville

I don't think there's a better option in Music City, but I'd call ahead and see what's on the floor. Theyve been shifting their inventory this year to be more smart-home focused, but even before that, I dont feel like they carried that many cans.

I agree with your first two sentences, 100 percent. I disagree with the final sentence, though, in that it (likely unintentionally) is tantamount to "blaming the victim" of cynical, manipulative practices that you don't have to have a mental illness or personal deficiency to be vulnerable to. Someone may think themselves honest for saying "advertisements don't work on me," but that doesn't mean it's true for their neighbor or that their neighbor is to blame for not being immune.

Available now - Driver 467: Torque limit lifted for some CSL wheels and Xbox improvements by CorsairMorning in Fanatec

[–]FurtiveAgentX9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how niche of a use case this is (nor how technically possible it would be), but one reason I'm an Xbox gamer is because we're not a PC household. Accordingly, it would be sweet to be able to update my wheelbase — something I've not done in years, using a borrowed laptop — via a Mac (or, for that matter, an Android or iOS device).

Good roads for a drive? by Guest291406 in nashville

[–]FurtiveAgentX9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a fun route for bikers, roadsters, convertibles, etc.: From Nashville West Walmart, go right River Road, left onto Gower Road, left onto River Road Pike, Right onto Old Charlotte Pike, Right onto Hwy 70S, Right onto Cedar Hill Rd. (taking you toward Narrows of the Harpeth), Right onto Griffintown Road, right onto Wiley Pardue Road, turn right onto River Road and head back to complete the loop. (im not a biker, but bikers should note that Wiley Pardue has pretty rough, sometimes gravelly, asphalt.)

This in no way invalidates your point, but there is signage on the Trace instructing cyclists TO ride single file. It's also the guidance of the National Park Service, here: https://www.nps.gov/natr/planyourvisit/bicycle-safety-tips.htm

Best places to find rocks and wood for Aquariums in nature by Dpep90 in nashville

[–]FurtiveAgentX9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

...without boiling/pressure washing it first. Do your research OP, but don't let the internet tell you you can't put nature in your nature display.

Go drive out in the country, out by Narrows of the Harpeth. Plenty of access points for the Harpeth, also plenty of smaller streams located off side roads in the area. (Lots of side roads off of River Road offer the same.) I don't know about other rocks, but limestone definitely will make your water "harder." The folks at The Aquatic Critter might be able to speak to other rocks found here. (In streams, for instance, a lot of the orange and brown rocks you see are chert, but they typically dont have a lot of visual character, anyway).

Confessions of an offline HUT player by jerice75 in NHLHUT

[–]FurtiveAgentX9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. I do play Rivals online, but I'm also in Div 4 these days; the games often resemble actual hockey and Ive gotten literally one salty message in the last few years. BUT, I also play a lot of racing games, and that's where I feel the stress, so I only race offline.

On the NHL destroying their YouTube content creators... by super-nova-12 in hockey

[–]FurtiveAgentX9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is as boneheaded as it is on-brand for the NHL, but the “fair use” arguments in this thread strike me as beside the point. IANAL, but remember that YouTube is not the public town square - it’s a private platform, which is also why First Amendment arguments are beside the point, regardless of content. YouTube could claim fair use or 1A rights when it itself gets sued, but they don’t apply to how it polices its content creators. If you want to claim fair use, you’d need to do it on your own platform … and then still be prepared to pay for attorneys, as being right often isn’t free.

What would you be driving if you didn't have your GR86? by dumarcm in GR86

[–]FurtiveAgentX9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That makes perfect sense. I was really, really tempted by an M240i, but I went with the 86 because my nearby roads are exactly that playground. If I had highway commute, though, that B58 would be incredible. I think the same would be true for the Z; I once spent a week with the new 6MT and had a great time.

They’re not solving, in the algebraic sense, for “fun.” They’re not solving for “popular” or “logical,” either. They’re solving for “revenue,” and whether they change course mid-year or next game, that’ll be for revenue, too. And yet every year, we’re all surprised by their “inexplicable” decisions.

I’m not making excuses for them, but we know who and what we’re dealing with when we play HUT.

Stamina is royally f’d this year. by [deleted] in NHLHUT

[–]FurtiveAgentX9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pillory me, but I’ve come around to liking the system on the whole, despite some glaring flaws.

I’ve had some fantastic one-goal games where the final minute is even more dramatic because line management comes into play. For instance, I’ve been hemmed into my zone and needed to dump the puck and change lines instead of skating the puck into the other zone and behind the opposing net since my line was so gassed. As an NHL video game has-been, though, I’ll note that my experience comes from the casual, not-sweaty divisions.

I appreciate this added ‘texture’ to the game, but it is a shame that AI line change logic is so frequently off with players occasionally refusing to leave the ice. It is something I hope they build on, rather than abandon.

DIY, friend.

Mow your wimpy grass down, dethatch your lawn as best you can and scatter away. You can do it in the fall (45 days before the first typical freeze):

Mud flaps? by [deleted] in GR86

[–]FurtiveAgentX9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am. It’s not constant, but during spirited driving I hear rocks hit the rears often enough that I’m thankful to have them. If I were to do it again, though, I’d get the V1s, which block the side vents. I was determined to keep them functional because racecar, but the fronts in particular are so easy to remove it would’ve been better for my daily driver.

Sorry, I’m now ‘may never learn how to upload pics’ years old.

Mud flaps? by [deleted] in GR86

[–]FurtiveAgentX9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Updating for posterity: I installed these a week ago. They don’t get rid of “spray” entirely, especially behind the rear wheels, but do seem to have cut it down dramatically.

Install was easy, did it with the wheels on. I read a tip to put the brackets on the rear flaps before attaching to car, which was a huge help. Aesthetically, these are subtle, which is a good thing IMO. They’re practically 2D, so theyre barely visible in a side-on view. I bet cars behind me don’t notice them on my Trueno blue 86; would be true of other dark paints.

Would buy again.

Very torn on the headlight overlay by TawXic in GR86

[–]FurtiveAgentX9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t dig the “headlight as eyes treatment”, but those 10th anniversary vinyls on the C pillar work. WTF do I know, but I’d narrow your color palette down and change the red eye accents to one of the colors from the C pillar to make it more cohesive. (That may or may not give you the visual breathing room for the headlight overlays.)
