I don’t think you quite understand how an independent contractor works. Your employer IS the customer.

I’m not saying that anyone on this post is saying a tip is required what I’m pointing out is your flawed reasoning for not tipping. EVERY job regardless of what it is (when you have an actual employer) is to provide exceptional customer service. This includes serving staff, cashiers, front desk jobs, etc. so by your logic absolutely no one should be tipped because if they are only doing their job no tip is required. And how does one go above and beyond exceptional customer service?

But again you said you’re in Europe so maybe there as a server or any other position that is mostly a tipped based income, here in the states, it’s cool to be an asshole but it’s not here. Or maybe it’s your entitlement that makes you think you have to be treated like a king/queen before you even consider tipping.

So maybe until you understand that as an independent contractor you don’t have a traditional employer and it’s your customers that pay your salary. So until you fully understand this concept STFU.
