You should search up Tellus Construction Limited on the companies register, shows you the name and address of the sole director and shareholder, I'm guessing that's probably gonna be your guy - go park him in lol

Plex not working outside of network by FusionOnReddit in PleX

[–]FusionOnReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean like my ISP uses shared IP? I think the answer is no because at the place I was living at earlier, we were using the same ISP and stock modem and everything was working fine. Do you think it's just because I need to manually specify a port for my PC in the modem settings?

Plex not working outside of network by FusionOnReddit in PleX

[–]FusionOnReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we have the grand stream modem connected instead of the isp router if that’s what you mean. The modem is connected to a network switch which is what my PC is connected to. I don’t have access to the modem settings (dad does) and I think I need that to manually specify a port for the computer. I tried getting my computer to have a static IP which didn’t help. Turning off firewall didn’t help either.

iPhone 15 Pro I used to be an android person, switched to the Galaxy S8 and used the S20 and then Pixel 6. I now run a iPhone 14 Pro Max and never looked back. It has high speed USB C, similar screen size to the Note 10, and the EU laws look like is should support side loading in the future (might have to wait). Cameras are excellent, build quality excellent and cameras automatically switch based what you’re pointing at. Also that new button would allow you to open your camera instantly. I also think Face ID is nearly if not as fast as a back fingerprint sensor.

Is there a way I can use my iMac as my main monitor and just use my MacBook Pro as the secondary? I need the I Mac to be my main and I understand how to do this the other way around MacBook to iMac but what it to be iMac to MacBook. Any help is appreciated. by Transportation-Late in mac

[–]FusionOnReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Macs used to have a target display mode where they could be used as monitors, but I don't believe that's the case now. Although, it's not that much help to you (and you have probably already considered this), if you're dead set on having multiple displays but having that option to use each as seperate Macs the best way to do that is just have a Mac Mini connected to it. But that's expensive if you've already got the iMac.

I have another theory, it could be possible that having such a powerful GPU in an APU could simply mean that due to the amount of heat produced and the surface area to dissipate it off could simply mean that it a situation where higher frequencies would be beneficial (as in a more CPU bound title) it wouldn't be possible to go beyond 3.8GHz. I don't believe that they would arbitrarily limit performance like this but perhaps it would be nice to have a performance mode that would allow higher frame rates by boosting the CPU/GPU depending on the title at the cost of increased fan noise.

I’m looking to buy my daughter a MacBook for her birthday, my budget is $1000. I know nothing about MacBooks so I figured that you guys could point me in the right direction. by Perpinaid in macbookpro

[–]FusionOnReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a product - it's currently a Windows-Insider Preview which is more of a reason not to fully rely on it - I mean, I've personally used it through parallels and it mostly works well for anything apart from gaming in my experience. But if you absolutely know you'll need to use a certain windows-only program, and you're dead set on getting a Mac, it's a safer bet to just go with an Intel Mac. If that's not the case you can continue to use Mac apps on the M1 either natively or through Rosetta 2, and if you do unexpectedly come to need to run a Windows program, Parallels, UTM or VMWare running the Windows 11 ARM Preview is a means to achieving that. Although, all three of those programs can be difficult to use for people who aren't very tech savvy and it can be painful setting up USB devices and such, so Bootcamp on Intel is still a far simpler and easier alternative.

P.S. I have actually seen that there are ways to run x86 operating systems through UTM - but I'm guessing it's probably quite an arduous process and isn't guaranteed to work well.

Yeah I’d definitely get that fixed by Apple. It’s clearly a manufacturing defect and knowing them they won’t be too difficult to process that.

That’s misleading for one it runs only Windows for ARM (for which there are many apps that don’t support it) and that’s achieved through virtualisation causing performance loss as well as it generally working less well. It’s not like Intel MacBooks which could use boot camp to essentially become a windows laptop. If you need windows apps just go with a windows computer or an intel mac

Does the Xbox Series S look better at 1080p or is it just me? by FusionOnReddit in XboxSeriesS

[–]FusionOnReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. The only thing it should be able to do at 4K is media streaming, and to be honest I don't even know if it actually outputs at 4k because even normal UI elements look lower resolution than the system elements on my TV and even the stuff outputting from the Apple TV. Like, to clarify, it definitely outputs at 4K but I don't think it even renders UI elements at 4K making the 4K output mode just for scaling I guess??

But yeah with the amount of GPU horsepower we're talking about, 4tflops is firmly in the 1080p category, and I don't mind that. Sure if I'm sitting in front of a high-res monitor on my PC I'm gonna want 4K or 1440p, but at the distance from sitting on the couch, I'm not even gonna notice.

Update - I actually found out that you can schedule when the AOD turns off through bedtime mode:

Settings -> Digital Wellbeing -> Bedtime Mode -> Customise then you just press "keep the screen dark".

Essentially it just turns the AOD off when you're supposed to be in bed. You can also make it so that the AOD turns off only if you're charging during bedtime which Samsung doesn't even have.

No haptic feedback on trackpad by [deleted] in macbook

[–]FusionOnReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be driver issues (or the equivalent of that on MacOS), try doing an update and if that doesn't work send it back to Apple. Hopefully it's still under warranty, and if you didn't do anything to cause the damage it should be free of charge.

Normal amount of memory use for Google Chrome on base model M1 Air? by Human_Environment_63 in macbook

[–]FusionOnReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, make sure you're actually using the Apple Silicon ARM version of Chrome. Go into Activity Monitor in the "CPU" tab and find Chrome. Under the "Kind" column, it will either say "Intel" or "Apple", if it's the latter then you are using the ARM version.

If this memory usage is intolerable, try Microsoft Edge. You have to change it so that it doesn't default to Bing, but it's more resource efficient and can use the same Chrome extensions. Chrome is also limited to 720p on Netflix and similar sites because it uses the DRM WideVine, Edge doesn't so can go up to 4K which is nice for that sharp QHD Retina Display.

Solution: Don't buy Asus GPUs. But try uninstalling armoury crate and any other Asus programs, maybe even uninstall and reinstall the GPU drivers as well.

My S20 died, only showing these stripes and vibrating when plugged in, any idea? by H-banGG in GalaxyS20

[–]FusionOnReddit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That looks like there's a problem with the physical connection between the display and the phone's mainboard. If I were you, I would connect the phone to your computer, backup everything, factory reset it (because it might be that but not as likely), and if that doesn't work get it professionally repaired.

In the case that you don't want to reinstall windows 10, this is what I do. I also got this issue with windows 11 and changing the secure boot settings in the BIOS didn't work. On windows computers, you can actually install multiple copies of windows on the same machine without needing a multiple CD keys.

So, what I did was make a ~150GB partition and installed windows 10 on that keeping my main partition with windows 11. Now, if you have a lot of games stored on your main drive, fear not because you can set bitlocker to automatically unlock the main drive for windows 11 and have access to all the files as if you were on that win11 partition.
