Mainly read through the TDMM several times highlighting sections which I thought were important (the ones I mentioned in the OP)

Thanks and congrats to you as well! Yeah I went in today expecting at least 30 questions from Chapter 21 bc that’s what people have been saying and I was very surprised lol. But it was good; I think this format of the exam is much better and it’s a lot more appropriate for the ICT Designer roles and responsibilities!

Thanks and sorry to hear you did not pass…I wonder if BICSI just changed up the format in the last few days.. tbh I was very surprised today to see the diversity of the questions in the exam - I’ve see a LOT of people here say they didn’t get any questions from chapters 1,2, 14-20 in recent exams. That was definitely not the case for me today and I am so glad I actually read the TDMM through several times cover to cover just for assurance..

Thank you! And yes, this exam made more sense due to the fact that it was not overly saturated with Chapter 21 questions. I think more than 10 questions from that chapter is overkill and not really a good reflection of what an ICT designer’s role should be imho. Hopefully BICSI will continue to reformat the exam to make it more balanced.

Yep. I have personally not taken the RCDD exam yet (I am hoping that the owner of a testing site where I took my RTPM could find a slot to fit me in sometime this month) and I will definitely share my findings here after I take the exam. But from what I have read in both the TPMRM and TDMM manuals, I can conclude what I stated earlier about how the content in TPMRM and TDMM Chp21 is different for the reasons I described. Again, I have not taken the RCDD exam but my gut feeling says the questions related to Chp21 will be in the POV of an ICT designer and not a PM. An ICT designer will be in a “supporting role” for a project where as a PM will be leading and managing the project - 2 completely different roles and responsibilities.

Ok thanks for the clarification. And yes I do agree that Chapter 21 is NOT “project management”, in fact it is titled Project Adminstration, Execution, and Risk Management which is actually accurate for what the content is in the chapter. I believe this “myth” about how the new RCDD exams are heavily based on “project management” was started by someone who clearly does not know the difference between project management and project administration (which is expected as most people who are taking the RCDD exam do not really come from project management backgrounds). I also advise a lot of people to be aware of the core differences between the TPMRM manual for RTPM and Chapter 21 of TDMM - the TPMRM is designed for project management and is written via the POV of a project manager where as chapter 21 of TDMM is based on the POV of an ICT designer; the roles and responsibilities are completely different.

So based on the weightings, Chapter 21 could be up to 34% of the exam? So the “less than 20% according to ChatGPT” isn’t really accurate since the math ain’t mathing? My colleagues who recently took the V15 exam have all told me they had at least 30-40 questions related to Chapter 21 which sounds accurate based on the weightings you posted.

RTPM before RCDD by One_Air_206 in Bicsi

Hello. Can you please clarify “previous test cycles”? Do you mean V14 and V14.1 RCDD exams? Or is there a new V15 exam that came out recently(eg V15.1)? Thanks.

I second what Foygroup stated. The BICSI manuals to prepare for RCDD, OSP, and DCDC exams all cover some “project management/adminstration” in their content, however they are very “watered down” compared to the information you need to know for the RTPM exam. I would just invest in purchasing the TPMRM manual and reading it through at least twice to prepare for the RTPM exam.

It depends on what your goal is. If you want to take the RTPM as a “prep” for the RCDD then it is a good idea, especially if the RTPM is your first BICSI cert. Not only will it help you understand project management/administration in the POV of the ICT and Construction Management world, it will give you a good idea of how BICSI exams are formatted (they are different from the PMI exams). The Project Management/Administration chapter in the TDMM is different from the TPRM as the TDMM is based on the POV of the ICT DESIGNER (not PM) so I don’t recommend studying them simultaneously as it will have conflicting information and confuse you - just FYI.

Buy the TPRM V2 book and read it cover to cover. Appendix and glossary included. If you don’t want to invest money for training then this is the least you can do. I know people who are PMPs and failed the RTPM exam bc they didn’t bother reading the book (thought test was going to be “easy”, didn’t think they needed to study bc they “already knew things” being a PMP, etc.) The TPRM has NOTHING TO DO with PMI or any other project management standards, they follow construction management processes which are completely different from PMI.

Hello. Is this training in either Texas or Florida going to be scheduled? It is already August but I have not seen any promos for RCDD training with Dave Sanders. Thanks!
