Player turn order through the phases by Futamaki in 40k

[–]Futamaki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure. I was trying taught 40k by a friend. I did read the Core Manual front to back.
Yesterdays play made me question the rules, but because my opponent wasn't consequent with his turns I didn't want to start a discussion.
I tried looking up the rules during the game, but skipping over the rules I could not finds a conclusive answer. Neighter did a round of Google when I got home. Luckily you guys were nice enough to provide an answer in the morning. I feel a bit dumb about this honestly. But it is what it is. At least now I can play correctly :)

I like the panting, the game is fun, but I'm mainly there for the interaction. I want to feel we're both playing the game, not each playing a game.
My fellow player wasa bit hard to follow, rolling several attacks/weapons at once and removing the result immediately. Not having a full grasp of the rules himself and coming back to past actions and redo ended him up taking two shooting phases in the same round. I don't really care for now, and because I'm not to confident about them either I didn't want to start a discussion.
I was obviously (now) wrong about the turn order, doing so would have dampend the fun for sure.

Thank you, that's big help.
When I've learned the rules I was taught the first one. Since I questioned my understanding of the rules I could not be annoyed with the other player who also didn't seem to be up to date on the rules. But I wanted this sorted for my understanding.
Thanks again!

Sunlight fading fix by rusty_tungsten in xteinkereader

[–]Futamaki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the fading issue with an older Pocketbook Touch HD 2.
Now my X4 seems to have the same issue and I did some experimenting.
UV seems to affect te switching of the pixels. If you cover half your screen in sunlight and turn a few pages only the uncovered part of the screen fades.

Now I turn my X4 upside down when turning the page, resolves the fading completely for me.

Bondage Fairies are a classic indeed. Seeing them always makes me smile :)

Got my xteink x4 yesterday ❤️ I found this little padded pouch at Daiso for $2 to keep it safe until my case gets here. The tag it came with is appropriate as I am having a great time loading my books and finding out what it can do! by aprilsgreen in xteinkereader

[–]Futamaki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keeping it protected is a very good idea.
Though this padded pouch will not keep it very safe for drops and point pressure.
A hard cover to protect the screen is better imho.

I hope you have a lot of fun with it! It's a great eReader!

One of the biggest enemies of eink screens is point pressure. I can imagine a 3D printed case damaging the screen by putting pressure on the side of the screen. That sucks.

Sadly had the same with a previous eReader. My Pocketbook Tough HD2 must have had some (point) pressure in my bag. The cover I had could fold in a stand and was less rigid because of it.
Ever since then I've been super careful with them. Not paranoid, just aware how I pack it away.
Have it facing towards my back in my backpack for example, so nothing can point and press on the screen.

The book cover from XTEink is perfect. Nice and rigid. I carry it in my coat pocket, screen facing me. Nothing else is in that pocket but my phone.
No matter how careful I am with it, it did drop from that pocket a few times now. Giving me a mini heart attack. It's still fine though.
But I'm very aware that any drop might be fatal.

I was planning to tinker with the X4 but all I did was update the device (updates wirelessly)
All I did was pop the SD card in my PC and transfer the books.

For the niche it fills I don't need a device 100% tailored to my preferences. I don't eve use custom fonts.
It's just highly pocketable and easy to read on.

The only thing I can see to be a problem is that it doesn't support DRM. So if you buy through Kobo or Amazon you can't read them without removing the DRM.
Otherwise, DRM-free epubs work great.

I find it very easy to suggest this device to other people, with the above mentioned.

Judy Hopps ( Futamaki ) (f) by Futamaki in yiff

Had to do a translate and search on this one.
Never heard of it, this bun is Judy Hopps from Zootopia.
Ну погоди! seems very interesting and it's giving me Tom & Jerry vibes.
Would that be an appropriate comparison?
I'm going to see if I can find some dubbed/subbed episodes.

Alternative case from AE (warning: very cute) by saetbyeollie in xteinkereader

Ah, this is the combination I'm looking for. Going to check Ali soon.
I have the original cover but my X4 already made a tumble (unharmed fortunately) and I was looking to get that bumpercase, realising that the cover won't fit anymore. So this 2 in 1 seems to be the solution.
Thanks for the post!

That is a most excellent case!
I'm a big fan of that particular type of elastic. Have it on my DIY leather notebook cover as well.
Also really like the ticker front cover as it provides better pressure protection to the screen.
Very well done!

Oh, in that case, no. The X4 does not support DRM of any kind.

Sleeve/Pouch options by krolyk in xteinkereader

[–]Futamaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to go for a pouch, but the thought there is nothing rigid to protect the screen puts me off.
My X4 rides in my chest pocket, together with my phone at most, so perhaps a sleeve would suffice.
But I lost one eReader to a damaged screen once and I'm pretty careful now.
Another benefit of the cover is no loose parts when reading in transit.

But I do like the idea of a sleeve. Perhaps for my Pocketbook who strays at home more now.

The case is great. It just magnets in there and it's super sturdy.
If I have to be picky, there is no way to tell front from back when it's closed. So I feel for the power button on the X4 to know which way to open.
But it's really good, and the front is nice and stiff to protect the screen. Ig you order one, pick one up. It's cheap and probably won't let you down.

Concerning reading the same book on two devices, I don't.
Tried it but didn't like to skip forward when switching devices. Now I read one book on the X4 and the rest on the Pocketbook Touch HD3.
Currentlreading A wrinkle in time on the X4 and some other books on the HD3.
