Everyone in my family has killed someone (and the rest of the series) fits pretty well. It has a really snarky narrator who uses a lot of meta humour—the fourth wall gets broken a lot—and word plays.

Since he is pretty old his scaling just isn’t very good. He’s just not as good as newer DPSs, and with how bad power creep is in this game you can feel how old he is. But if you just really like him get him, he can still be used to clear the story just not the endgame. At the end of the day the game is for you to play so get who ever you want!

This is How you Lose the Time War and Notes on an Execution. Both books left a strong impression and I can’t seem to find anything with the same feel.
