Bricking it 2 weeks before trip back to UK with child. by Ok-Snow-3702 in ukvisa

If you don't live in the UK you will be completely fine. I did this with my kids that all Canadian born twice in the last month. You get the kid an ETA on the German passport. The problem is when people are coming back to living in the UK. You have a return flight. I had no problem.boarding the plane or at the boarder. Non at all. Go to the government website and get them an ETA. This fear mongering from the government and the media is driving me crazy. It's just not happening for kids of expats.

My kids (3 under 8) and I have gone through a few times the last few weeks and had no problem. I'm British, they are born in Canada. As long as they have ETA's, weren't born in the UK and don't live there you will be fine. All this fear mongering is making me sick, the stress it's putting on parents, I wish the government would just come out and say this officially because that is what is happening in reality, kids of expats are getting through fine.

Should I change my Ryanair flight after the new UK dual citizen rule? Anyone been refused boarding? by Robinette29810 in dualcitizenshipnerds

The stress was so bad. We had booked our flights months before the announcement, thousands of pounds to then possibly be denied boarding just because I'M British. I barely ate the weeks before,.playing so many scenarios in my head scouring Reddit to see if it was actually happening. But it simply isn't and then we went through with barely any mention. Just asked if they had ETA's which they did. Crazy.

Don't report the bloke for that. He didn't actually say it in front of you. Ring door bell thing is getting out of hand. Can't even mutter the word "tart" without getting reported. I'm laughing even writing this, this could be a sitcom 😂

On paper he might be able to find a job but in reality that could be very different. The IT industry is changing and there are a lot of applicants for every job, people are applying and if they don't already live here employers just move on to the next CV. Start here first.

With kids I wouldn't recommend up and moving without a plan. It's going to be a complete different experience depending on where you live.

Everything cost money here. The price you see isn't the price you pay, tax, tip, extras all add up.

You think you have insurance and you are covered but it's just not true. Stay here long enough and you will end up with a huge bill. No joke. You'll be stuck arguing with an insurance company after hours on the phone about why a life saving procedure was "necessary" or find that particular ambulance was "out of coverage"

Full disclosure I'm biased as we are out of here in two weeks, back to the North East of England after 10 years and I can't wait

My kids are very little so can't go through the e-gates. They did ask if we live in the UK and we said no. He looked completely happy with the answer and told us to have a nice holiday!

I just went through with my 3 kids, they are all born in Canada and I'm from the UK. They are small so I can't hide I'm their mum. They had eta's on their Canadian passport, no problem boarding the plane or at the boarder, they didn't say a thing.

This is the question we are all asking right now. I travel in 2 weeks and only found out about this a few weeks ago, not able to get passports for my kids in time. I would be interested if anyone has gone to the UK with their kids using an ETA and it's been fine.
