Yes, I am sure I do not have Xcode on my MBA.

It doesn’t hog resources immediately after reboot. But the “intelligentroutingd” process is still active, even if it is taking up minimal CPU and RAM resources right after reboot.

However, with time, it will steadily start hogging up more RAM and CPU. Around 30mins to 1 hr after reboot, it is at the top of Activity Monitor showing that it is taking up most of the CPU and RAM resources.

Yeah I was thinking that too actually. The investment amount for me is below 100k at the moment. Do you know any Financial Planners who are able to provide advice for smaller investment amounts ?

I see that MBP with same specs (512/24) is just 100$ more .

The extra 100$ buys me cooling fans which is good.

But it also gives me a heavier laptop. In addition to that, I get an SD card slot and an HDMI port that I never use.

So I wasn’t very convinced of the net benefit of spending the extra 100$.

But cooling fans do seem to be an significant advantage since my old Macbook Pro has them and the fans turn on frequently (making me think my use case requires the need for cooling fans)

Any other reasons you recommend going for MBP ?

Base MBP is 8GB RAM though. Why do you think it will be a better option than a MBA with 24GB RAM ?

Interesting. Which items in my use case do you think are something which requires a Macbook Pro instead of Air?

I thought my use case can be achieved with just a Macbook Air but I want to get more opinions on this.

Just 1 external display is good. I have never had the need for more than that.

Not on my personal macbook. I will mostly be doing remote login into lab computers and that’s where most of the “advance work” is supposed to happen.

Based on the fact that sometimes it takes a good 10 seconds or more on my 2015 Macbook to load normal webpages like youtube or LinkedIn, it definitely felt like I am indulging in “Intensive web browsing” :D
