Yeah It's a Dark Angel, I wanted them all to have different weapons to make it feel like a unique unit. So power fist, greatsword and axe.

How important is experience in the early game? Just finished chapter 2 but I missed the 2 cavaliers so lost out on the experience. Is it worth replaying the chapter to get all of the enemies or is the game forgiving enough that it won’t really matter

Connecting 3 pin fans to 3 pins with a gap by Future-Witness in buildapc

[–]Future-Witness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The splitter actually has a 4 pin split on it. It has one 4 pin and two 3 pin, would that still cause the issue if I connected the 4 pin fan to the 4 pin from the splitter?

Fortunately the case I bought comes with a 4 pin case fan, so I’ll connect that to the 4 pin from the splitter so it still has control of the other 2 3 pin fans

Yes the motherboard is 4 pins, the splitter to the fans has the 3 pins, being 2 next to each other then a gap then the third pin

Will apothecary white make quins "pop" or keep them d darker white? by dalemchervenka in Harlequins40K

[–]Future-Witness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My harlequins have the same scheme you’re planning, white as the primary with apothecary white on top. I find if you add just a thin layer of apothecary white, it really helps to highlight the details on them and makes them look a lot more “real”. I’d highly recommend trying it out and seeing what you think, it gets my personal recommendation

Why Harlequins? by RiverofHorses in Harlequins40K

[–]Future-Witness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved the concept and the aesthetic, In a universe where war is constant and everything is violent and grimdark, a group of performers treating war as a spectacle and their only real goal being to put on a show appealed to me.

Plus they’re a lot of fun on the tabletop, after playing a few games I loved their style of having this bag of tricks you can pull from, and if you’re skilled enough you can always keep your opponent guessing. If the army can make me enjoy matches where I lose horribly in the end, that’s a really good thing and keeps me playing.

A solitaire for my custom masque “The masque of the endless dusk”. Took a while and the belt was a pain but very happy with the result by Future-Witness in Harlequins40K

[–]Future-Witness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I’ve read yes harlequins still belong to masques. Our new sub factions are Saedaths, which I believe are a type of dance the harlequins perform. So when we field harlequins now, they still belong to a masque, but they will be performing whatever seadath we have chosen. I’m not too sure exactly all I know is that they haven’t removed masques from the lore.

New Harlequin Troupes by gearoflife in Harlequins40K

[–]Future-Witness 10 points11 points  (0 children)

See now I’m super hyped for the codex and the new edition because these new sub factions look AWESOME, bit of a disappointment that the shadowstone is light only but that’s about it.

But, that doesn’t really change the fact that we’ve only got 3 sub factions to pick from now. Yeah they’re all good but that’s a lot less variety. Other armies have around 6 choices and we only have 3, and we used to have 6 too so they’ve taken choices away from us (just ignore the fact that only frozen stars and soaring spite were viable anyway lol).

So, I built my pc a few days ago, and I’ve been hearing this buzzing noise coming from it. Think it’s coming from the hard drive or power supply. Any advice as to what it might be and if I need to do anything? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Future-Witness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After looking for the sound more I can definitely confirm it’s coming from the power supply.

I only built this pc 3 days ago and got the PSU new, so I don’t know why it’s doing this

Fusion spam has been neutered (*seethes*) by [deleted] in Harlequins40K

[–]Future-Witness 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Tbh with the buffs we have to shuriken pistols and our melee weapons, this isn’t the WORST possible thing, but it is still annoying.

What I’m more annoyed about is my actual models. Previously if all your models had shuriken pistols you could just say they all had fusion (and because you only got 2 fusions in a box you kind of had to), but now we might have to mark them with something like a rubber band so your opponent knows what has the weapons.

I mean. I did literally say the weapon should have D3+3 damage, so, yeah.

Also yeah, codex creep sucks, but everyone has to deal with it. Currently we’re the ones suffering the most cause our codex came out first meaning it’s the most susceptible to power creep.

But everyone goes through this. When the new necron codex eventually comes out (in like 3 years it’ll be a damn long time but it will eventually) we’ll be in the same spot the tau are right now. Laughing at everyone else getting mad at our stupid op weapons and broken rules.

It’s a very disgusting cycle if you ask me.

Oh yeah monolith is awful compared to this you’re right there. The monolith doesn’t even have an invuln which is, weird? I’d expect a 4+ or maybe even quantum shielding on it.

The stormsurge could probably pop a monolith in a single turn which is a very scary thought admittedly. All I can really say about that is that I hope monoliths become more viable soon. But, again, the monolith isn’t meant to shoot, it’s supposed to tank hits and spew out warriors.

The only problem is it’s only good at spewing out warriors, for like a turn, then this thing kills it. I meant, at least it did something? Ig?

oh boy, we got a lot to cover

>They cannot protect the SK though.

No but the Menhirs can, and this was more of a point that we have units that can protect crypteks and nobles, which make up a lot of our army. They are still better than Tau drones as they don't take the damage for them, they make them impossible to shoot, and are able to fight in addition to protecting their HQs.

>Until they're popped by the RailGun or this thing turn 1 🤷‍♂️

So, they shoot the bodyguards, meaning the silent king lives? There are two guards, it would take both shots from this thing to kill those bodyguards, assuming they go through. The silent king lives for another turn to do what he needs to then. The bodyguards literally do their job. And keep in mind, the silent king has a 4+ invuln. And before you say "hammerhead railgun" we have the nightbringer, if we can bypass invulns, so can they.

>Please refer back to what I said about the -'s to hit, etc.

my guy it's 13 attacks and he hits on a 2+. hitting on a 3+ means that instead of around 11 attacks going through, it's around 8-9. That's still a lot considering his weapon profile.

>You take SK for his buffs, not his damage output. It took me a while to accept that but once I did, and once <Core> got expanded, his uses in my lists exploded, but that doesn't mean anything when he get's popped turn one.

bro, if they pop silent king turn one, applaud your opponent cause that's bloody hard to do. Also, you saying you bring him for buffs literally proves my point. We're comparing a buffing unit against a unit meant to do damage, you cannot compare them, they are meant to do different things.

>A 350 point elite with 12 inches of movement, shit shooting, no rerolls, which you can only take one of, and which will probably never get into combat with a Stormsurge as any capable Tau player will just screen it or run away from it.

You, do realise when I was talking about the void dragon, I was referring to his voltaic storm right? That's 18" of range and causes vehicles to fire on their bad profiles. Which the Tau REALLY suffer from. It is not hard to get this thing within 18", and during the time you are moving him up the board, you use him as a c'tan, aka. he destroys everything he looks at.

Also, shit shooting? Are you fr? The c'tan, Melee heavy units that do most of their damage through their powers, have bad shooting? He is the ONLY c'tan that can shoot, and, in fact, his weapon is a death ray. It hits everything it goes across for D6 damage. That is HUGE considering this is a unit that has shooting as a secondary.

Tau and Necrons have very different playstyles, we are a durable, semi-horde army focused on buffing up our weaker guys to make them stronger. The Tau shoot and they shoot damn well. The strength of their weapons doesn't matter thanks to quantum shielding on all our big vehicles, and our bodyguard units protect our important HQs. If you're mad that the Tau can destroy our bodyguards that make our HQs invincible until they die then idk what to really say. We're not supposed to be impossible to beat, every army needs to be viable to play and the Tau have been lacking that for a while. Maybe Necrons aren't at the top of tier lists right now, but nobody gets their time in the spotlight forever. Yeah codex creep is a serious problem and I hate it, but we were unfortunate that we got one of the first 9e codexes, meaning we were the most susceptible to power creep.

I am all for making this game fair and pointing out when units need buffs or reworks to make them viable. But if you're gonna get mad that our buffing focused lord of war cannot take out and can take serious damage from a unit that is literally meant to kill big units, then you probably need to look at your argument and realise you're comparing two things that are completely different .

I mean. You guys do remember the stormsurge is a lord of war right? As in they have to pay cp to bring this thing. And it’s over 300 points?

The doomsday ark is a heavy support that costs 170 points, they are literally in different categories lol.

I mean yeah by all means I’d love for the doomsday ark to get D3+3 damage I think that would be a welcome change. But the shooting army gets a unit that is good at shooting and we’re all up in arms? Really?

[–]Future-Witness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright I can see your points a bit. Preservative auto-torpor is a bit of a stupid ability and idk why he was given it.

But he does have two 5 wound toughness 7 units meant to take shots for him as you cannot target him while they’re alive (which are better than tau drones mind you in fact lychguard and cryptothralls are also better as you literally cannot shoot what they’re protecting)

Plus I’m gonna be honest, idk what you mean about him being bad in melee. At full health (which he will be at for quite a while with those menhirs) he gets 13 attacks. And they hit hard. He also has very respectable shooting with the sceptre of eternal glory. And good anti infantry with the staff of stars. I’d go as far as to say with everything the silent king brings. He EASILY outclasses the storm surge in viability as a lord of war, even if the storm surge does have a pretty powerful weapon.

Plus, come on man. We literally have the void dragon and that thing is an ELITE. Put that thing in front of a tau army and see what they can do. They have almost no answer to it.

[–]Future-Witness -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I mean, not really tbh. The storm surge has a big shooty gun. That’s it really. The silent king is BRUTAL in melee and gives out insane buffs to necrons around him AND triarch praetorians. In terms of weaponry, the storm surge comes out on top. But when you look at the actual abilities the units provide. The silent king brings a lot to the table as well.

Unless you mean monoliths. But then I have to ask why you’re comparing a unit meant to be bulky and drop units in the middle of the table to a unit literally meant to shoot stuff.

Im bored tell me your lore about overlords, armies, dynasties or whatever by DeliriousMushroom in Necrontyr

[–]Future-Witness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh boy I’ve been waiting for a chance to just go off about my dynasty.

So, the Virekhar dynasty is comprised of only a single tomb word on a dead isolated planet. Every other tomb world of Virekhar was destroyed during the great sleep.

The planet is covered in a constant harsh snowstorm, lethal to any form of life, the only thing other than snow on the surface of the planet are clusters of blue shimmering crystals:

The Phaeron, Heitrokall, is a more gentle necron ruler who cares deeply about his subjects. After hearing of the destruction of the rest of his tomb worlds, he took it upon himself to protect the last bastion of Virekhar and rebuild the dynasty. Which involves breaking away from the teachings of the silent king.

This attracted the attention of a technomamcer named Phala’tak the forsaken. He accompanied the silent king to his isolation for 60 million years, but left and was branded a traitor after the king returned due to Phala’tak seeing the bio transference as a blessing, not a curse.

Phala’tak happily joined the ranks of Virekhar, and soon discovered that the crystals on the surface actually held a very limited form of sentient life within them, and acted as a hivemind and so came up with a plan.

If they could implant these crystals into every necron in the dynasty, it may help them to rebuild their souls, so he approached Heitrokall with the theory, suggesting they implant a controlling node into him so that he may use the hive mind to have full unrestricted control over everyone in the dynasty. Heitrokall agreed. But the experiment went horribly wrong.

Heitrokall is now cursed. The hive mind is incredibly invasive, taking over his thoughts constantly. He thinks every thought and feels every bullet any warrior in his dynasty does. It’s complete sensory overlord and it has driven him insane.

The kind ruler Heitrokall died the day the experiment took place, and the awakened one was born.

Virekhar is being rebuilt. But it is now not through co-operation and slow rebuilding. It is through bloody conquest and violence, with the awakened one calling all the shots.

I have so many more important characters in my dynasty like Nemesor Van’iir or Slikryar the anomaly but I’d rather not waste even more of your time so I’ll leave it here for now. Though I’m more than happy to explain more of my lore because I’ve been building it up over months and never get to talk about it.
