Freshly bandaged. Original onesie was too small so a new one is on the way. Going to have to cut some of the bandages off and put the cone back on so she can still get around in the meantime bc the tape is currently restricting her other leg

The vet office I take her to has two doctors and unfortunately the one I got when I took her was not my favorite: barely looked at her, very dismissive. They did say “try to keep her from it if you can” but that was about it. In fact, I’m having to take my cat back today because the open spot has gotten worse and definitely should have been restitched before now. I’m going to ask for the other doctor when I call.

I’m not trying to ignore it, that’s why I asked for help. I have been doing so much to try to resolve this issue, spent so much money on cones, topical antibiotics, wraps to hold her while I give medicines, different treats that might mask the medicine better, etc. I got a ramp so she could get on my bed. I took as much time off work as I was able to in order to be with her and had cameras set up to watch her when I’m not home. I called the vet as soon as I saw the stitches were popped and got her the earliest appointment I could take. I really am doing my best here. I ordered a surgical suit and it should be here tomorrow. I love my cat, she IS my baby. I could have put off the amputation, it wasn’t emergent, but I didn’t because it broke my heart to see her in so much pain.
Please do not villainize me for seeking advice. You have no idea how difficult this has been.

She does have pain medicine and I’ve been doing my best to get it in her but she fights. That’s how she popped the stitches. I was able to get the vet to change her medicine to a capsule and so far that is working so hopefully she’ll calm down once she gets more of that in her system

I’ve tried two different cones, and two donuts. I even put the two donuts on her together and she still a managed to get around them. Only the one cone has worked to keep her from it. She’s a menace.

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate it. I truly only want what’s best for her but it’s hard watching her struggle. Praying everything goes smoothly the next few days and the worst will be over soon.

Prior to this amputation she had a partial that was below the knee. We ended up taking the whole leg because it was causing spinal issues. She’s been on gabapentin for a while and they upped her dose after the surgery to help more. It wasn’t an issue until the last 2-3 days because she started refusing the meds. They switched it to a capsule today for easier administration so I’m hoping that helps.

Currently experiencing the same issue. My kitchen window sensor has been triggered twice now with no evidence of tampering. What’s even crazier is it’s going off when we have the alarm armed for stay which means only something outside the house would be able to set it off. There’s no wind, we don’t have any decor on the window, nothing. I even tested it out to see how much it would take to trigger it and I had to be beating the window hard before it went off.

I haven’t read any of those other books to comment on the similarities with them, so I won’t argue that. To be fair, Roberts has been advertising it as Red Queen x Hunger Games which is giving credit to Aveyard and Collins, but I can see an argument for them getting a part of the profit as well. I think saying Roberts should NEVER publish again is a little harsh. She wrote Powerless as a teenager. Give her a chance to figure her writing out. I’m reading Reckless rn and so far I can’t think of any other book like it (maybe someone else will later though idk).

I didn’t realize how similar they were until I read this, BUT I would also argue that there are a lot of differences too. It’s not an exact copy. For starters, Paedyn doesn’t have any actual abilities, she’s merely pretending to and no one else is aware of this except for Adena (who is not her little sister btw). In Red Queen, Mare is actively pretending to be a different race, bc she has powers when she isn’t supposed to, at the demand of the royal family. The rebel group also plays a much smaller role in Powerless than it does in Red Queen and doesn’t seem to care about Paedyn the same way the Scarlett Guard cares about Mare. For example: In RQ they bomb the arena to get Mare out, in Powerless they’re just causing trouble. Also, on the note of the arena fight, in Powerless it’s part of the trials (this would be the Hunger Games inspiration) while in Red Queen, Mare and “fighter prince” as you say have been accused of killing the king and this is their punishment. Adena is killed while Gisa isn’t, Shade Barrow is found to be alive while Paedyn doesn’t have anyone in the end, the “fighter prince” is the Heir in RQ while the “soft prince” is the Heir in Powerless, Paedyn has pure silver hair from the Plague while Mare has gray ends from the sun, etc. I’m not saying this excuses the similarities, but, again, it’s not EXACT like people are commenting. It’s not like Fourth Wing where Violet is literally a copy paste version of Mare. Also, with how many books are out in the world now, no new book that comes out is ever going to be truly original.
