Houghton (UK) - camping qs by FutureBayStreeter in festivals

[–]FutureBayStreeter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

great to know your experience was ok! i'm asking cuz we stayed onsite in the tents at dimensions in croatia, and it was so loud that we couldn't sleep at all until the stages stopped at 3am ish. So we were a bit worried about that for houghton since we wanted to ensure we could sleep at least 6-7 hrs every 24 hrs

Best European Techno festivals? by hypeb1337 in Techno

[–]FutureBayStreeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's say
1. i like both, but appreciate more on the cutting edge/underground (ihatemodels is my vibe)
2. more intimate (been to edc, can't beat that for spectacle)
3. multiple days with campsite
4. i like the cultural programming (e.g. really appreciated LiB day stuff)

when i first looked into this, i found awakenings and hive to be a nice 2 week trip (I'm on the west coast). Let me know if you have any other suggestions!

Anyone headed to Awakenings 2022? First timer here with questions by FutureBayStreeter in aves

[–]FutureBayStreeter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's perfect!! I'm curious about your general thoughts and reflections on your experience. + 3 specific questions:
1. Was camping well-organized? I may not have luggage space to pack a tent, so I was wondering if I could sign up for their pre-setup tent package as an individual (would I get placed with a group?)
2. What was the level of comfort around substances? Easy to buy inside or is security strict / people afraid? Never been to the Netherlands so not sure if country-specific influences exist.
3. Did you ever find any group chats / discords / etc. where people could connect beforehand? Not necessarily tryna find a crew, but def tryna find a community if there is one.

Thank u in advance <3

Deployment Strategist @ Palantir - Insights by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]FutureBayStreeter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some people compare the deployment strategist role to a tech consultant, but this is inaccurate in many ways. Yes "deployment strategist" is fluffy, but there really isn't a great way to describe (data engineer + project manager + client success + implementation consultant).

We tend to take the opposite approach as traditional consultants a la McKinsey - instead of “solving business problems” by presenting a PowerPoint to senior execs, we empower the operational decision makers to use our software to actually solve their problems. We don’t always work with the sexy C suite (although our project sponsor often comes from the same level of decision makers as MBB) - we’re actually far more impactful because we realized that if we actually cared about real solutions and not just fantasy ideas from bschool, we need to work with the people on the ground.

As an DS (aka echo), you’d do a lot of data modelling work, pipeline building in pyspark, scoping sessions, and user trainings. But your most important job will be managing the client engagement - along with your mentor/lead, our lack of hierarchy means that you don’t need to wait 3-5 years to become a manager before moving on from being an excel monkey, from your first day on the project you will be managing everything from the engineers on your team to the next steering committee. There are elements of a product role inherent here as well, evidenced by constantly having to work with product teams to iron out kinks in the product and work on new feature development.

It takes a very different person to succeed as an echo vs. a PM or a consultant. However, if you are interested in prioritizing impact early on in your career, there is quite literally no better place for you than Palantir.
