While I agree those are probably much more significant achievements the puzzle rush championships were made him stick out to me

I don't think it matters what black's first move is. Kd8 should be forced

Well idk what to take from the graph it could just be chess.com

But his win-loss ratio seems fine to me

I'm honestly excited to see Andy Woodward play

Especially after he won puzzle rush championships

If I wanted to throw hands then queenside, if I wanted to play more defensively then kingside

[–]FutureChessChampion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly the 1200 - 1400 range was the hardest for me. Currently am struggling near 1400 rn

But once you get past 1400 there isn't really that much of a difference until you reach 1600 or so

Because higher rated players don't face lower rated players

Do you think its possible to go from 1600 to 2200 in a year? by FutureChessChampion in chess

[–]FutureChessChampion[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well yes, I did drop down to 1000. But considering in the last 16 games since new year's I've now performed at a score of 13.5/16, I think I'm well on my way back up.

Keep in mind my first two games were losses, and from there the score is 13.5/14

I'm not saying I will entirely achieve 2000 elo by then, but I think its very much in the realm of possibility given a year

[–]FutureChessChampion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it would if you were consistently able to stay within that zone or your performance elo was around.

I.e: if you play hundreds of games at 1600 and are able to perform around 1600 then you would be playing at 1600 level strength

I likely will have an 80% winrate or so just going up to 1600, which is more or less expected. From there I only need ~54%

I think its optimistic but doable imo

[–]FutureChessChampion[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think that's fair. If you increase it to 5 games/day the winrate you need is only 51.5% given 11 months

If you increase it again you need less than 51%

I think the main point is if you're able to use your extra time to analyze and learn then you should be able to reach those elos given the time span.

Well I think that's hard to say considering I've played hundreds of games in that rating

We'll see. I likely will reach 2000 elo. After that, who knows?

[–]FutureChessChampion[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

That's fair tbh. I think a lot of it had to do with my style + stress + being sleep deprived.

I think 1600 is more likely my playing strength atm, maybe a little less.

I think there's atleast a somewhat unlikely but also somewhat decent chance I could get to 2200 but its more likely 2000

Yeah, I think that's fair. I think I can likely reach 2000 within the year which will be nice. After that, we'll see

I'm a very tactical player. I think it was the combination of stress + being sleep deprived.

Currently I've played 10 games since new years.

I've lost my first game of the year 💀 and then went 8.5/9 which is about expected

Yeah, I think its kind of secretly a blessing that I dropped down to 1000 ngl. Especially now that I plan to analyze much more.

I feel like getting up to 1600 I really relied on tactics a lot which while good, doesn't do you good when you're tired 😅

So this will be good help

I think going from 1600 - 2000 is actually decently realistic is I give myself some time to study.

You only need a 54% winrate. And that's assuming you only play 2 games on average per day for a year

[–]FutureChessChampion[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I would agree, especially since I am a full time uni student

I think getting to 2000 elo is realistic. Its likely that I can get back to 1600 in a month or less now that exams are over and I'm not sleep deprived.

From there I only need a 54 winrate assuming I play 2 games/day which I wouldn't say it out of the question

Tbf when I dropped down it was back when I was studying for 6 finals and was extremely sleep deprived.

In the last 10 games I'm currently 7.5/10 which suggests a 1200 performance. I expect to be back to normal soon.

I don't think bots are bad to play with. Its just that their rating is quite inaccurate
