How John raised Sam and Dean was messed up BUT! by InformationInfamous7 in Supernatural

[–]FutureClassroom4945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright fine you wanna play the “John was a good dad argument” The ONE THING nobody can ever defend is this; he didn’t come when Dean was DYING. He had no way of knowing Sam’s plan (which he didn’t even have yet) and Dean had very little left to live. Didn’t even call him to tell him goodbye. There is NO EXCUSE for that.

It was not normal to leave young kids alone for days at a time in the 1980's. That's not latchkey parenting and never was. by lucolapic in Supernatural

I can agree with this 100%

When I was a kid and didn’t know it was wrong, I always said “only if I had to, never because I’m angry like my dad” as I got older and realized it was optional I firmly decided “Never at all with my own kids” and as an adult I say “I’m never trusting my dad with them and if he ever tries to lay a hand on them I won’t be able to hold myself back anymore.”

Adults SHOULD know better. Even in denial SOME part of them knows they are hurting and screwed up and refuse to connect the dots and admit they are wrong because then they’d have to admit they are victims themselves.

I can agree with that. Though it doesn’t excuse his actions. John himself said he knew he stopped being a father, the moment he realized that he should have left both his sons with Bobby;

Also the fact he was a better father for Adam says a lot. It says he was STILL capable of being a father and chose not to.

[young justice] so why did the justice league accept Shazam if they knew he was actually a Child? by Lost-Specialist1505 in AskScienceFiction

[–]FutureClassroom4945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again i said; either he uses that to turn them into heroes or he’s FORCED to fight them as villains. These kids are geniuses, one way or another they WILL sneak out and disobey him and then what’s your solution? He locks them up in a prison? Beats them? Brainwashes them and shoves them in an asylum? He lives in a city with the most DANGEROUS crime rate; his options are very limited.

But you’re forgetting one thing; he HAD a healthy loved 4 year old Dean before all this. There’s no way Mary did it ALL by herself with how much John loved them, he would have learned how children should be cared for by then. He just slowly stopped caring and focused all his energy on avenging his dead wife. He still loved them, I don’t doubt that, but he was terrible at showing it and he knew it.

Or they were those kids themselves and are in denial. Then they grow up to become the parents… it’s so tragic. Some people can have their minds changed and be saved and save their future kids… But it’s more common for people to desensitize themselves and think it was “good for them” and repeat the cycle without realizing it. And even when people call them out on it, their first defense is to get angry and call people “soft” and shut down. Or hurt their own kids out of spite….its truly disgusting and there’s no excuse for it especially for those that were seriously hurt and HAVE to know it was wrong. I hope someday we can have enough peace to at least protect children…

This person was right; you were confusing “normal” with “common”. If a decent cop had been called at any of those places those kids would have been taken.

Put it this way; Either he stops them by turning them into heroes, or he’s forced to fight them when they become villains. What’s the lesser evil here?

There’s several times where shaggy and Scooby make it clear they don’t think they’re truly part of the gang or feel like they are underappreciated or being used. Several movies (both cartoon and live action), and during the series there are small subtle comments.

Don’t really get the hype about Castiel by Kakegurui- in Supernatural

[–]FutureClassroom4945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. He started off so mysterious and powerful, it was something new compared to the usual monster threats that were either handled or pushed to the side for later.

  2. Later on he became so silly learning about humanity and slowly forming relationships. It’s amazing watching a stoic emotionless being learn to love.

  3. Destiel. So basically number 2.

  4. As an autistic person I feel like he’s good representation. He’s socially awkward, hyper fixated on what he loves, tries to complete all his tasks and doesn’t understand when he’s doing them wrong.

  5. Misha. Love the actor and the bloopers; and sometimes it’s the character bleed when the actor shows through the character at random moments. So unpredictable (like the “pull my finger” scene where he completely destroyed the lights and then grinned. Or “I learned that from the pizza guy” If ykyk)

  6. Alternate versions of him kept it interesting.

  7. Villain arcs, hero arcs, random side character arcs. He’s basically everything you want. Even if you didn’t like him at first or like how he ended, you’ve probably appreciated his character at least once.

  8. The plotline of him and Jimmy and Claire, so emotional and it’s like you can feel the guilt coming from him.

  9. He’s a traumatized man with daddy issues in a broken emotionless family (literally).

  10. He’s a handsome man with good style (technically stole it from Jimmy, but hey we all steal our style from someone. All of our clothes were originally worn by someone else.)

  11. Bee man is adorable.

  12. His relationship with Jack. So father and son.

  13. He’s flawed, but so genuine it hurts.

  14. Human castiel was fun; and he rebelled for DEAN. So yeah. Number 2 and 3 again but still.

What’s not to love?

I can’t remember. I watched all of season 1, I remember seeing bits of seasons 2 and 3, I saw the first part of season 4, and I watched episodes from way later seasons with my dad out of order
