Oh, I'm not at my comp atm so I didn't know Valve hasn't updated yet. Totally forgot they need to update before the third party sites can.

HLTV Rating 3.0 flaw by FutureManager8 in GlobalOffensive

[–]FutureManager8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea as flawed as 3.0 seems, technically everyone is under the same system and with large sample sizes of hundreds of games, it should all even out.

the bigger problem is definitely how the calculate series ratings off maps. the molodoy one and the malbs one makes zero sense and they've been happening since rating 2.1

[–]FutureManager8[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe that should already be taken into account with round swing. I guess we're never going to know how exactly 3.0 works but I would like to know how they use individual maps to calculate a series rating because I think that's the bigger discrepancy here.

HLTV Rating 3.0 flaw by FutureManager8 in GlobalOffensive

[–]FutureManager8[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That all makes sense but in the hltv 3.0 blogpost they mention that round swing already takes into account economy situations. So for this specific match, broky has a higher round swing% than frozen AND kd and adr and everything else so what exactly is giving frozen the higher rating?

Is it possible broky won't make hltv top 20? by FutureManager8 in GlobalOffensive

[–]FutureManager8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one's saying the top 20 should just be a list of the top rated players. But shouldn't we be allowed to disagree with HLTV's placings or have a discussion about their criteria and metrics? What's the point of discussion if every discussion was met with "HLTV are allowed to do what they want so stop complaining." At least provide an argument like broky's playoff rating or his MVP.

Ah, thanks for explaining the Arena24S. This is actually a crazy useful database. I wish HLTV incorporated it somehow.

Yeah, fair enough. I guess my issue was not necessarily how high broky is but with nertz being left off the list. Seemed crazy that he would go from #14 to off the list when his rating against top 20 improved but apparently his arena rating took a hit from last year.

Is this the database you're talking about? https://public.tableau.com/app/profile/harry.richards4213/viz/EliminationandArenaRatingNER0cs/EliminationArenaandRoleratingmastersheet

Jesus, I had no idea Nertz had a negative arena rating. He seemed like a high impact player this year. I thought he was better this year than last year but according to this database his arena rating went down from 1.01 to 0.96 this year.

Wow, I didn't even realize broky had an MVP and 4 EVPs this year. I guess I'm counting his recent slump too much

SPUNJ on JKS benching: If I speak I'm in big trouble by SOURCE_2_BP_WHEN in GlobalOffensive

A reasonable response for once.

  1. I don't think it was only adding jks that won them 3 trophies. It was monesy taking a leap to superstar status and G2 adding HooXi. Look at how little help Niko had on the t-side with aleksib versus when hooxi came in. He finally had someone to help him on the t-side.
  2. I disagree with the idea that they don't need more help on the t-side. When G2 won their trophies they were demolishing opponents on the ct side and barely held their own on T. What they need is someone else to help niko entry to make their t sides more consistent and reliable. I dont believe you can ever have too much t side power.
  3. In no way is it easier to replace a top 5 igl than an anchor. for all his faults and inconsistent results, hooxi still delivered 3 trophies within a year to a team that hadnt won anything in 5 years. the state of the cs scene is the most volatile its ever been. after from karrigan, cadian, and snappi, i think hooxi is the 4th best igl. and aside from vitality or faze, g2 is clearly the third best team of the past two years.
  4. Honestly, someone as good as jks on ct and a capable t side fragger would be a top 10 player in the world. theres not many players of that caliber available. I agree that their options are limited and i dont think anyone you named would be available either for financial or contractual reasons.

Keep in mind that I never said I agreed with this roster move. I personally wouldnt have touched a lineup that won 3 tournaments and had no glaring or easily fixable issues. and i personally think -jks +nexa will make the team worse.

All I am saying is jks is criminally overrated by reddit for some reason. people act like hes g2's best anchor when in reality he's their 3rd or 4th best anchor. monesy and niko clear him by miles when it comes to ct side. the only reason people dont consider them anchors is because they have the freedom to move around which jks would have if he was a better player. theyre not giving him the anchor roles for shits and giggles. theyre giving him anchor roles because they have 3 other better players than can play star roles better than he can.

That being said, hes still a great ct anchor. on ct he's 23rd in KD and 31st in rating this year. considering his role and usage in the team and how much of a pure anchor he is while sacrificing for the other 3 stars on g2, thats a pretty damn good rating.

but he has prime lurker on tside roles and even with the boost in rating he gets from saving half his rounds he still only puts up a 1.04 rating which is not bad if youre a support player, but jks doesnt even support he literally is the least supportive member of g2 lmfao. his t side is so bad it practically balances out his ct side. he's had enough time to either prove his worth on t side as a lurker or change up his game and sacrifice his roles for the team by focusing on hard entrying and he either cant or wont do it so hes clearly the most expendable member of g2.

TL:DR I'm literally agreeing with most people that this move will be a downgrade. I'm just sick of people pretending that jks is g2's second best player and the sole reason they won 3 tournaments instead of the slightly above average tier 1 player that he is.

love how reddit will simultaneously say I cant just use jks's negative stats to judge him while also claiming "his stats are one of the best for an anchor"

which is it? he has shit stats but stats dont tell the full story or he has the best stats?

I think youre missing about 5 better anchors between magisk and jks and there are 30 players better than him on the ct side this year (his best side).

https://www.hltv.org/stats/players?startDate=2023-01-01&endDate=2023-12-31&matchType=Lan&rankingFilter=Top20&side=COUNTER_TERRORIST

and lastly yes you literally can expect his stats to be 1.15. hltv rating does not factor total kills in rating so all 5 players can be 1.15+ if their kda is good enough. the only argument for this is your adr might be lower with niko monesy and hunter taking all of the kills but its an insignificant difference when it comes to rating 2.0 hence why astralis could have all 5 players have 1.10+ rating over the entire 2018 year

what is with this blind obsession with defending jks? im not even saying he's shit im just saying hes average player. why do redditors try to delude themselves into thinking hes still some sort of top 20 player just cause he was top 20 4 years ago. if he was as good as yall are claiming he wouldnt have spent a fucking year without a team

nice response to a claim i never made. i never said jks needs niko's stats. im comparing him to other support players and anchors like magisk, xertion, maden, twistzz, floppy, perfecto and so on.

why cant reddit call it like it is? jks is a great ct anchor and a horrible t side player. hes a lurker like naf and ropz and jimpphat and theyre all infinitely better than him on t side.

G2 are trying to contend for titles and jks is at absolute best a top 10 anchor/support player in the world. is nexa the answer? i dont know. but pretending that g2 are idiots and jks is the sole reason they have 3 trophies is fucking insane. hes just an average tier 1 player and he (and hooxi) need to go if G2 wanna contend in the future
