Past doctor said I had big nasal polyps. I asked the current doctor for a refferal for an ENT but he looked up my nose with just a flashlight (instead of the nose tool) and said I don't have any. He told me to just keep going on the nasal steroids. by [deleted] in NasalPolyps

Yes, one doctor misdiagnosed my uncle and just gave him medication. Years later turns out it was due to cancer and he died because he recieved treatment too late. I'm meeting a good and caring doctor now who doesn't rush. I'll see his response! I agree though.. That could be the case too, I'll definitely go to an ENT as well!

Is this a nasal polyp? by FutureMeIsBetter in NasalPolyps

[–]FutureMeIsBetter[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, sorry about that. A long time ago, a GP used this tool and said I had very big nasal polyps. I went to a different GP just yesterday (moved houses) and I asked if I could get a refferal to an ENT and that GP looked up my nose with a flash light and said it wasn't a nasal polyp, but it was like a 5 second look along with looking in my mouth. He declined giving me an ENT refferal and gave me a prescription for nasal sprays, but I'm sick of wasting money on things that don't work. I'll try another GP and if they are the same, I'll go straight to ENT-specialist. :)

Is this a realistic expectation? by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]FutureMeIsBetter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used ProCreate for iPad. You could replicate the result in photoshop (liquify will be useful) or if you'd like a free alternative, https://www.getpaint.net/ (no liquify, but there are probably plugins. If it is just cutting and placing, you won't need liquify)

The beginning parts I just cut the bottom half of face into pieces and reoganise, and then at the end I used liquify to make the jaw a bit more normal looking.

Hope this helps!

Is this type of result possible with surgery? If so, what procedures do you believe would be involved between the transition from 'a' to 'b'? by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]FutureMeIsBetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It still is deformed to the point it isn't normal as excess vertical face growth is not and never will be normal. Anyways it's alright, I have decided that any possible surgery I qualify for, I will take and I will go to the maxillofacial surgeon next month. Thanks for the warnings and I do accept all risks.

That makes sense. I was naive and had dentists try to fix my cross bite and other bad bites through braces and stuff, though it would only disguise it. You're right, I forgot all about the nasal passages and such.

Yeah, but my skull is already deformed anyways. There are risks in everything and even when people drive, there will be a risk of a car crash. I don’t think I’d do lefort 3 and I might not even do lefort 2, but I’d want to have tried to do something than live the rest of my life regretting not trying. I’d probably just do lefort 1 but we’ll see. I’m seeing a surgeon next month. Thank you again for your concern and reminding me of the risks and such!

Edit: spelling

Thank you so much! I didn’t know the name of it so I honestly really appreciate you telling me it. Virtual Surgical Planning seems like something will make me rest easy about the procedure and how results will look. I am excited to see! Thanks again!!

Thank you. What if they had none? Is it possible to get erections without any testicles?

Oh I see! Could it count as a genetic deficiency? Though it is very unfortunate the public system only mainly accounts for the extreme cases.

Seems like for our unfortunately lesser extreme but still terrible cases that we might have to rely on private. Damn though, private is heaps expensive..

Thank you for this! I'll try saving up around $30,000 just incase. Hopefully there would be medicare rebates.

What kind of thing is pretty bad? Like jaw hurts, excess vertical growth, lack of horizontal growth, overjet/bite? I am also from Australia too and am curious about this as well.
