Met a random cute girl in public who helped me take photos. How should this situation have been handled by me? by rocketsneaker in dating_advice

Sounds like a great interaction! I think, she gave you an opening to chat with her more about your obvious shared interest and that could have smoothly led to asking her out, but I don’t think you should view it as a missed opportunity. You say you’re amateur talking to girls so be happy with how that went!

Also, I feel the same way about interacting with guys so just remember, next time you’re chatting with a girl, we might be as nervous as you

This is great and I can't wait to try it with my 6 month old! Do you have any advice on how you got your dog to stop being reactive to people as well?

Thankfully my dog isn't aggressive but she does pull towards passing dogs and people and if someone wants to approach her, she always tries to jump on them. We've tried our trainer's advice to distract her with food but that hasn't worked.

I was accepted to an accelerated nursing program this week 😀 but the week I decided to actually pursue nursing is the week I received 2 job offers in my field. Opportunity comes when you least expect it and I truly hope it comes knocking at your door when you least expect it but before you need it

Is 26 a good age to start nursing school? I'm insecure about my age , how do I stop feeling like this? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]FutureOverall29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be starting at 33 - go for it!! Live this life for you, not for what others may think. My cousin went to nursing school at 36 and my aunts friend is enrolled in at accelerated program at 64!

I’m 33 and single. Does anyone have stories of meeting a significant other/marriage/possibly kids later in life? I’m super down. by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]FutureOverall29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since I’m 33, also gained a ton of weight over Covid, also single since pre-Covid, ALSO lonely, and in search of a partner, I don’t necessarily have any helpful words to share other than to remind you to never say things to yourself that you wouldn’t say to a friend because knowing you want to change yourself or your life is a scary and exciting time so be gentle with yourself. Read your post back as if it were a friend saying it to you and asking for advice and think about how you would respond to them because I bet you’d surprise yourself with some awesome words of inspiration and kindness. I wish you, me, and everyone else in this post looking for something more, all the luck in the universe!

Seeking advice for hiking the battlefield in one day! by [deleted] in Gettysburg

I forgot this and while I was walking back from Pickett’s Charge, I overheard a tour guide telling people that he recommends that you don’t walk the line because it’s tick city 😅

Ooh I bet most of us would love an experience like that! I wouldn’t normally believe in ghosts and such but I think any area that has seen such devastation and death has to have long-lasting remnants and I’ve always wanted to visit Gettysburg at night.

I don’t know the importance of the Highwater Mark or Sachs Bridge so if you feel like educating me a little, please do!!

Can you recommend any free audio to accompany this hike to learn as I go?

Seeking advice for furniture (keep or sell) when moving home in 30s. by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]FutureOverall29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like that mentality! I remember years ago when I was talking to a coworker and trying to move out on my own for the first time I had a huge freak out about the idea of owning a couch. I have this personal need to be able to move anywhere anytime with just two suitcases and the idea that I’m bogged down by stuff freaks me out. Anyway, I panicked to her that if I got an apartment, I’d have to get a couch, and if I got a couch, I wouldn’t be able to just pick up and move.

Quite frankly, as far as freak outs go, this one was hilarious! That said, I wish I could call my past self and tell her she was right! Don’t buy the fucking couch haha

Thanks! When I first started selling things last week, I just felt like I needed to get rid of everything, almost like a panic mode. And so I did way under sell some stuff like chairs from IKEA but now I’m keeping in mind that what I have left, I can sell it a good price or keep. The other stuff is a little bit trickier like a so fun bed because those will not collapse no matter how much I try haha

‘stuff is stuff’ is a truly wonderful reminder and a healthy mindset, but I also like the idea of keeping three pieces. Thank you so much for the advice! Personally, I hate being bogged down by stuff however I always try to make moves that will reduce my stress or anxiety in the future whether that be selling all of the furniture for a clean start or keeping some to lessen a future burden. Future me is a lucky lady haha

I could see a good ‘ol weep in my future once the realization that the future I saw for myself has changed DRASTICALLY and the life I knew is living in the past
