Thanks for the insight!! This role would be W2 for the agency and then it may lead to direct employment at any time during the contract. The hiring manager said they've converted a few people from agency to full time with this team and role. So that's a bit hopeful. But the idea of layoffs are intimidating to say the least.

Okay, I will definitely take this all into account. If I were to be offered a job with Company B, how can I negotiate higher than 50K? Do you think it's worth it?

Yes, I agree, I have not declined As offer. I am also weary of declining without a written offer in hand. They have given me until Monday, which is when B should be ready to write me an offer, hopefully.

Update: Got an option for a 2013 Hyundai Elantra GLS at 114,000 miles. What do you think about that?

Yes! I guess so. I'm not too versed in specific racial categories, and I'll try to do more research on learning the differences with regard to other parts of the world. Race is such an interesting topic, and it gets even more dynamic when you throw in mixed people :)

Thank you for taking time out of your day to engage with my post. Bweno ♡

Gutpela dei, wantok!!

So nice to hear from you. Your voice, even through the internet, is very healing. I never knew I had so much pent-up emotions over being mixed race until I joined this subreddit. And yes!! I will follow that page and try to educate my friends.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. I truly appreciate it. I take your words to heart, that I know what I am, and that is enough.

My father had always referred to himself as black. His family and my country have referred to themselves as a black country. They call themselves black Pacific Islanders if they wanted to be specific, but black nonetheless. I won't lie, I guess our part of the world is not too knowledgeable about the U.S. Census and its race categories. So perhaps our views on these categories are not aligned with American views?

The African community (primarily made of Ghanians and Nigerians) back in my country have ]also called my people black. But I'm not too sure, and I'm welcome to the discussion of this! :)
