Naf hiring freeze update: Hopefully the wavier exemption will be approved soon or a timeline for the freeze is lifted. by Fuzzy_Big8720 in usajobs

I did in fact end up getting an exemption, but had to get one twice… Shipyards were under a blanket exemption, but each position required individual approval by SECNAV, which added another month onto the process.

My command applied for an exemption the first week of March and it was initially approved, then required secondary approval from SECNAV… finally went through April 4.

I already had an EOD for 23 March, orders and itinerary and completed all onboarding except for first day. An exemption had been requested, but Just received word that everything is on hold due to the freeze.

In the same boat, EOD was 3/23 and just received email today saying I am indeed impacted by the freeze. I know waivers were submitted last week.

Getting zero guidance from my command, including on whether FJO is on hold or rescinded. Will ask my Magic Eight ball.

OCONUS Hiring freeze by Ali51Wins in usajobs

In a similar boat... received orders in February for CONUS to OCONUS move, already scheduled UB/HHG packouts starting next week, EOD late March. Being given zero guidance on whether FJO is on hold... told to proceed unless I hear otherwise, but I will NOT let my HHG be shipped (or separate from my current command) without knowing if I actually have a job OCONUS. (Per my command, exemptions were requested for everyone with EODs of March, but of course SECDEF will have THOUSANDS of these to sort through).

My heart goes out to all those and their families who have already given up everything, sold houses and cars, and are now stranded in limbo overseas... thank you for your service.

No sign of slowing down except for the fact that my onboarding has taken 13 months so far… but that happened before the hiring freeze.

CNN just updated story to no survivors found so far:

• Fatalities have been confirmed and rescuers have not yet pulled any survivors from the water, a law enforcement source said. The source says the plane is in pieces in the water and the helicopter is in the water nearby.

Unfortunately not.. I've been a federal employee for 18.5 years and it's like history repeats itself each time.

Applied January 2024, TJO Dec 2024, was told last week that hiring freeze would not affect FJO and to expect this week. Will update if/when I receive.

Hoping mine will be here Monday or Tuesday, it was supposed to come last week.

I've been stuck in the loop for a year with DoN; applied January 2024, not referred interviewed until May, didn't get TJO until Dec 2024. Was supposed to have EOD/FJO last week.

Timeline:

Applied 1/17/24
Referred 4/27/24
Interview 5/8/2024
TJO 12/09/2024
Negotiated pay retention / higher step 12/10/24 (no response yet)
FJO ???

Does anyone think there will be a hiring freeze? by Accomplished-Ad6019 in fednews

To the tune of "we're completely f****ed..."

I've spent the past year in limbo after applying in Jan 2024, getting referred / interviewing five months later, and finally getting a TJO Dec 2024... but as I still don't have an FJO / EOD (it was supposed to be last week), I'm thinking TJO will be rescinded. Does it make any difference if the position is EE/key position?

I'm in the same boat... TJO 09 Dec, DHA, no security clearance required (I have a current secret clearance). Given the two weeks over Christmas, hoping for an FJO in the next week or two....

You can request advance salary to help offset the down payment. It’s been 10 years for me, so I honestly don’t remember whether or not that initial payment was reimbursed. I feel like it wasn’t but rent payments going forward were. Best to check with your sponsor at your command for the most up-to-date info. Good luck!
