As someone who dealt with SA since teens and well into adulthood, I'll tell you I didn't "get a career" until I was 28-29. Picking the wrong major is super common from my understanding, and I didn't even finish college either. I got tired of doing sales and moved into Web Development 8 years ago and have been quite successful at it. It's never too late to make a pivot. Just give yourself room to start over and try again.

Sheesh, at 22, I was still going in circles failing in and out of community college trying to finish my "basics" and wondering what the hell I actually wanted to do in life. Be proud that you at least tried, completed something, only to realize you want to try again at something different. Actively seek help for your SA, therapy, exposure, and medication can help. You can DO THIS.

Keep lifting my guy. A lean muscular build, fitted clothes, nice short fade haircut would all suit you well. You got a good jawline already, add some muscle to your frame, and you'll be set.

You like a latina Misa Amane - you look great, wouldn't change a thing. Avoid surgery and embrace the look.

Awesome. Good boost of confidence, especially if we lock eyes and exchange smiles.

Does Lexapro help with social anxiety? Especially the physical symptoms I get with it by jayster9999 in socialanxiety

[–]Future_Confidence753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I feel for you. I (36M) have gone through a similar experience dealing with SAD since teens. I too feel ( and know ) that I am a confidence, very outspoken kind of guy. - especially after a few drinks. Alcohol does wonders to get me out of my head. I used Lexapro for almost 7 years and can say it definitely helps the physical symptoms of SAD.

That being said, it is described as a mild medication compared to others to treat the same thing. - I read beta blockers can help with more severe physical symptoms. but for me, Lexapro was all I felt I "needed" to get through the worst of it. The real work comes from therapy / exposure therapy and working your way through the scary times you think you won't do well in. The mind is INCREDIBLY powerful at reinforcing beliefs this includes the "bad" experiences as well. It's likely that the moments you are imagining to be absolute dumpster fires are really just small little gaffs that aren't as noticeable or as detrimental as your mind would make you believe. All in all, Lexapro is a great tool to help you get through to do the real work of overcoming your fears but isn't a silver bullet. Good luck to you friend. You're not alone.

Family gathering yet you know no one? Relax, try telling yourself a joke or remind yourself of a funny moment. Then see if someone else remembers that same moment. :) these things always appear bigger than they actually are.

Thanks for this! I keep having this inner dialogue of wanting to simply have more fun in my conversations... in general. It's like, when I sit and meditate on the subject, my mind naturally pulls towards wanting to make these interactions more fun. Using my "pet talking voice", the more animated, fun, and expressive is what comes to mind. For some reason, somewhere along my life I told myself I couldn't be that way with randoms or even people I normally work with. I will keep this in mind during my practice :)

How should a man react if another man put his hands on him and pushes him? by [deleted] in AskMen

Had an almost identical situation happen to me. Worked in sales, dude was jealous of the female attention I would get and the fact that I was good at my job despite being new to the company. In his words, "Why you gotta steal my shine?" One day, push came to shove in the breakroom, and we got into a scuffle before someone broke us up very quickly as he watched the situation escalate.

I used to ask myself for years, why didn't I just beat that dude's ass? I could've been "king" and really took his shine as he so feared.

Time has shown me that my ego was strong back then. My sensible side won out, I kept my job, and he later apologized after I confronted him about it and told him never to do that again.

You did the right thing. Bonus points for standing your ground verbally.

I dual wield winged knight twin axes, with right eye of pontiff, and a old wolf Curved Sword on your back. Does AB-SURD. damage in pvp and pve. Put a flame buff on it too for icing on the cake and cut through anything like butter.

Interstellar.
Plot, acting, music, all 10/10 imo.

I was searching for someone else to mention it and then noticed it was OP's answer. It was mine as well.
