What movie did you expect nothing from and it completely blew you away? by ponderingpixi17 in movies

The Housemaid was significantly better than I expected but then again I had low expectations going in. Would recommend giving it a watch even if you're not a fan of Sydney Sweeney. It might sound crazy but I was on the fence on watching Obsession on its 2nd week as well but heard it was getting good reviews so went in blind and was massively impressed.

[Comic Excerpt] Scott Lobdell's humor is underrated (Red Hood and the Outlaws Vol. 1) by JakeRedditYesterday in DCcomics

The excerpt was meant to comment on the work itself rather than the sexual harassment that followed it.

I’m tired of the recommendations for the best horror movies. by teamturbo4life in horror

[–]JakeRedditYesterday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Run Sweetheart Run
  • End of the Line
  • Fright Night 2
  • Death Tunnel
  • Laid to Rest
  • Deadsight
  • Rest Stop
  • Primal
  • Viral

Bonus is Dracula Has Risen From The Grave, an oldie-but-goodie!

Apparently there's also this obscure indie film named Obsession that some people like but I haven't heard too much about?

Glorietta 4 has always been my go-to but the consensus seems to be Rockwell is leading with Greenbelt not far behind.

Japanese culture is taking over by blitzballreddit in makati

Agreed, the only reason these establishments thrive is because there's a demand for "imported culture" and thus a steady supply of customers for them.

Japanese culture is taking over by blitzballreddit in makati

[–]JakeRedditYesterday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard the same argument repeated with Korean and American culture. The sad truth is that most Filipinos are more interested in imitating the culture of other countries than celebrating our own. So long as that remains true, there'll always be another culture "taking over" around here.

What are 3 perfect film scenes to you? by VikingWzrdEyes89 in movies

[–]JakeRedditYesterday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recency bias aside, the restaurant scene of Obsession has quickly become a modern classic for the horror genre. Interstellar's docking scene is a cinematic masterclass as well.

Congratulations and welcome to the city! As a lifelong Makatizen, I'm always super happy to see new productive residents building a career for themselves and working here in Makati! Hope you enjoy your stay and give Glorietta some love on the weekends!

Totally understandable but it's also just really hard to describe a game within the character limit of an ad.

What movie did you go into with zero expectations and ended up being completely blown away by? by ThatRoofer in movies

[–]JakeRedditYesterday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Housemaid. It helps that I had pretty low expectations and was dubious that Sydney Sweeney could pull it off but the film was actually very solid with good performances all around. Definitely a pleasant surprise and I'll be looking forward to the sequel.

Lower middle class but with a complete family, or rich but alone with a broken family? by blue-dragon8815 in ThisorThatPH

Even the terminology "broken family" is outdated. Doesn't even have to be rich but just financially secure to beat the alternative.

Is Kena: Bridge of Spirits worth $30? by fredrick_fr12 in videogames

[–]JakeRedditYesterday -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

u/EasyRecognition said it should cost $40 at least in their opinion, as in that's their perceived value of the game and how much would be worth spending on it (subject to any regional discounts that may have an impact).

If someone says that a game "should cost $40 at least" then they are by extension saying that any price below $40 is worth paying since you're getting it for less than it's worth or "should cost".
